But I know I'm in trouble when that V8 gets traction,
Grabbing second, I hear the RPM sing,
My mirror is blocked by my Shopping Kart Wing,
I now hear the roar, of that big monster gaining,
All I can do is keep that four-banger straining,
In a second, the shockwave hits with a blast,
And my stickers go flying now, a thing of the past,
Don't bother with third, cause now it's too late,
Just try to act cool, like you can relate,
Looking up at the taillights as they get smaller,
The driver backs off just to give me a holler,
"You can't win them all," he says in fling,
"You may not win any, in that silly thing",
I scowled and revved and let out a sigh,
And did my trademark high-speed fly-by

Reminds me of the time when I was at Yakima drag strip and a nice kid was lined up next to me in an AWD Eagle Talon. We spent some time talking while waiting in line and I learned all about the mods on his car and that he could usually beat an LT1 'Vette. But he never asked me any questions about my LT1 'Vette and assumed it was stock. He blew me away off the line but when I finally had full traction I tore by him like he was standing still. I don't remember our times, but I do remember about a 30 mph difference in our trap speeds. After we got back to the staging line he jumps out of his car and says, "Holy ****! At the top of 2nd gear I saw you behind me in the rear view mirror, I looked down to shift into 3rd, and when I looked up you were in front of me! I didn't even see you pass!" Part of it was my crappy driving skills. I pretty much started every race looking like a 14 second car and half way down the track suddenly turned into a low 11 second car when I had full traction.
