Looks like she's dumping stuff her ex had. Has a 700R4 with a scatter sheild And says it has a blown head gasket. Might get the car for cheap. Has GTA cross lace's on it also.

Edit: Ok the gal just got back to me and said she owes $1000 on the car. That's pushing it I think. I asked her about the interior and stuff, and for more pics. Hopefully she will get back to me. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

I also liked this line (presumably about the cams):

Dan, you should tell her you'll give her a grand for the whole mess (car and parts) Could part it for that much. |

Well unfortunately I don't have the room to part the car out. And I'm supposed to be laying low especially for the next two weeks.
If the car had a 3.27 or 3.70 9 bolt I'd be interested in them. But most likely it's a 2.77, and I already have one of those. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

Didn't all GTAs have the WS6 option?
EDIT: I found this in the Standard Catalog of Firebird 1967 to 2002:
1988 GTA axle ratio: 3.27:1 with 5.7-liter and 4 speed auto trans |

Thanks for that info. I'll try to buy the rear axle if it's a 9 bolt.
Can i verify the ratio on the RPO sheet in the console? _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

| You can verify what it left Van Nuys with. Finding out what it actually has will require a little bit of crawling. |

I realize the final say is counting the gears, just though there might be a clue to if it has a performance ratio on the RPO decal. I've counted many gears in the bone yards in my time. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

In that second link, the picture of the RPO sticker shows a G80 for the (limited slip) posi axle, but go down the list of G codes and it's not there.
The sticker in my 89 lists the GU4 for the 3.08 ratio and the G80 for the posi axle, only the 3.08 isn't true any more
Go here and stick the VIN in and see what the RPO codes for that car are.
http://www.compnine.com/vid.php
The VIN for my 92 is in that database, but the 89's isn't, though it's supposed to go back to 1980. _________________ 92 Camaro

Thanks for the links.
I may go look tomorrow. Can't really pull the axle right now, have to lay really low for the next two weeks with working on stuff and staying out of crowds I'm told. But that doesn't stop me from going to look. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

@ Al, it's fairly common to see two 'G' codes, one for type (LSD, or open) and one for ratio. Some just have one or the other though. Typical GM crack-smokery. My S10 lists an open rear option, but no ratio, for instance.
Oh and Compnine currently only goes back to '90 on F-bodies. This has been established on TGO. |

| I see what you mean about the G codes, the 92 lists GU6 for the 3.42 ratio, but nothing about the axle type. It's open. |

As usual there is conflicting info regarding thirdgen options. TGO's tech data states that the standard ratio for an '88 GTA 5.7L is 2.77:1 and the optional one (G92) is 3.27:1. The standard catalog of Firebird states that G92 is the standard gear for an '88 GTA 5.7L.
I've always heard that WS6, G80, and G92 were all standard on the GTA. |
