Is it just me, or is TGO slowly dying and less people giving responses?

Anyway, getting gaskets to put these 113 heads on my motor. When I first got them I noticed on site said that gaskets were different between steel and alumn heads. Now none of the sites show. Can someone tell me which head gasket I need?

referring to ur tgo question i 100% agree i stopped posting on there either ppl were jerks or no one answered...

as to ur question about head gaskets...as far as i know it doesnt matter but im not expert in this area...i do know that no matter what head gasket even if u used no torque head gaskets you should run the motor let it warm up then re-torque the head bolts...heres a decent article i found that might give you some pointers

has your motor been decked? You want to make sure you get a gasket with the right compression thickness, so that you end up with a proper quench.

I have no clue on the block. I was told it was a crate 350, with very little miles on it when I bought it. I am ASSUMING it has not been taken apart since it was assembled from the factory.

I talked to a motor builder here. He is the desired builder in the area. He said any of the 3 gaskets he knew about would work. But since I admit to occasionally beating on it and desired for it to last a while. He advised for felpro 1003 gaskets which arent listed on any of the local companys. Summit list them as .041 gaskets, which is the thicker of ones I was looking at.

1003 is FelPro's composition "Performance" gasket. Not really any better than stock-style IMHO. Why not run 1094's? Do they not like aluminum heads?

1094 looks like just a shim??

He was saying that the 7733's will eventually rub a "ring" in the alumn and the heads will have to be decked quite soon. Where these 1003's wont do it as fast.

You don't want to run a shim style with the aluminum head. You want your head to piston clearance(quench) to end up around 0.040. So you need to know how far down in the hole your pistons are before ordering a head gasket. A motor that has been 0 decked will have the pistons and deck even, thus a 0.041 gasket gets you the perfect quench. Stock block/pistons are usually 0.020-0.030 down in the hole. Thats why the factory used alot of shim gaskets that are 0.015-0.020 thick.

Actually Mike Lewis said you can run the shim with aluminum with copperkote.

If it was me I would run the 1010 Fel pros they work the best for all around and will take most anything you can throw at them! Also they are specially for the aluminum heads and have a .039 compressed height so they are tighter then others. Maybe this helps!
