Not that there would be any doubters here.. But I pulled the 2nd gen out of the barn and drove it down the highway today! So it's official, I drove my car this summer! Made it by what? couple days? Got over to my dad's house and this terrible smell was rolling from it. I think my muffler is full of mouse nest. By the time I got home however it seemed to be gone. This thing is still pretty much a beater but the fun is starting! I can't beleive it drives straight down the road. Even after replacing the spindles and complete tie rod assembly from another car, cutting the springs, and replacing the ball joints/bushings. The steering wheel is 90* off, but you can let go of it and she goes straight down your lane. Anyway, here's a couple non-barn pics with the new sheetmetal and stance. I really like the RallyIIs I powdercoated too!

Awesome B! Coming along nice. I can picture her finished
I didn't doubt that you would get her going but wasn't so sure about before end of summer the way your luck was going for a while there.
Congrats!

Right on dude! I've always liked the early flat-window 2nd gens.
Congrats on the victory lap too. Nothing like pulling out of the shop for the first time with a new build. |

It needs some running time to see whats going to happen. It burns out at will. I don't see any smoke out of the exhaust, but on a pull it blows it out the breathers.. and out of the hood! LOL
When I come home I did a little burnout, power run to the Y and back. When I got back there's something in the motor squeeking. I'm thinking rocker.. so I gotta check out whats going on. I REALLY need some gauges. I have no idea if theres even oil pressure. |

I kinda know how you feel about driving it. After 3 weeks I finally had some decent weather and the car was put together enough to actually drive it
Congrats on getting to drive it. Looks like it still needs love, but in good enough shape to work from. _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

| Looking more like the motor comes out for this winters project. Squeeky noise I started hearing was a rocker arm. Motor's not oiling up top. Couple rockers get a little rest dont seem to get anything. Lots of oil back on the distributor gear. Looks like that is the end of the line for the oil passage. |

Maybe, motor is pretty nasty inside. I need to get an oil pressure gauge on it and see whats up. The idiot light hasnt worked in years. Found the wire pinched in two at the bellhousing LOL. Now I know either the trans or the engine's been out before.
Not sure if I should even try motor flush or rislone. Maybe I should just pull it and fix it. |

| Wanted to drive it a bit more, but this late in the season anyway. I think it'll just come out and see what it needs for a refresh. |

I really dont know where you get the energy, you are a true enthusist.
2nd Gens are tight, back in the day I rode in Kenny Robert's wife's old car, a Nevada 4speed W72 that my bud had, our Sr year in HS. This was a treat as you could not get a 4sp T/A in CA at the time, only 403 autos.
I have a badge for the rear decklid spoiler leftover from the 75 Trans Am I had, If you want it, I can dig it out.
Congrats! _________________
