Hey all, so this weekend my car started making a new sound that i don't like only a week before i make the big road trip and it has me freaked out!

Its making a loud ticking sound under load. I'm thinking something with lifters? the ticking is much softer while idling and coasting, but gets louder while accelerating. It varies with RPM's.

The car still feels like its running strong, no power loss, just ticking. Confused

I've tightened my header bolts but the sound persists.

HELP!
~JAKE

Is it metal-on-metal, or softer? Does it backfire when you let it run down in gear? If your worried about the bearings, dump the oil and check for silver in it.

Sounds like an exhaust leak. Collected or Header. Even though you tightened the bolts once it's leaked much it can take out the gasket. Especially if you used the cheapo paper gaskets that come with the headers. They burn out in 6 months on their own.

Start the car ice cold and run your hand around the flanges to feel for leaks.
