The moral of the story? Drive a big american car.

That way the people around you will die horribly whilst you cruise over them in relative comfort. Very Happy

wow that was pretty graphic for a commercial. it did get the point across pretty good though. it's too bad mainsteam america thinks we're all too feeble minded to handle the truth. otherwise we might have realistic P.S.A.'s like this one.

If it's posted '' NO TURN ON RED'' I'm cool with that. It's when it's not posted that erks me..... almost as bad as the people turning onto a no stop merge lane and stop to see if it's clear. I wanna scream at them. Of course no ones coming the lane starts where they are and it's a dedicated lane. Freakin move already Evil or Very Mad

Upsetting as it may be, there's no law that says that making a right on red is required. If you remember driver training, it's totally up to the driver Wink

When I took my drivers ed final in high school, I got docked a single point for what the instructor called "impeding the flow of traffic" for not taking an available free right.

I doubt its ticketable, but I've never checked.

i doubt its something you could be ticketed for, most traffic laws are written in a way that limits what you can do as opposed to requiring what you must do. speed limits for example say you can not exceed a specified speed, but there is no law that says you must drive 65 just because you are allowed to. just because you are allowed to make a free right doesn't mean you must make the turn, and as long as that is true you can not get a ticket for waiting for the green. You can; however, get honked at and be called all kinds of names.

If the posted speed limit is 65mph, and you're driving slow enough to impede the flow of traffic, you can get ticketed.

Most interstate highways do have a minimum speed posted as well as the maximum.

that is true. some states have a minimum speed on interstates of 45. However if you have lights and pilot cars and all other safety stuff in place then you won't get a ticket.
There is no such thing as a pilot car to exceed the speed limit. Impeding the flow of traffic is a purely subjective ticket to write to begin with. As far as i know there is no definition of what impeding means, holding someone up is not impeding. Around here on the two lane roads where i live holding up 5 or more cars is impeding, but I've never seen anyone get pulled over for it. I have been in a line 15 cars long and passed a state patrol going the opposite direction and the motor home at the front didn't get pulled over. My wife got a ticket for running a yellow light though so i guess the moral is that in good ole' rural Pacific county there is no such thing as too slow, but don't even think about trying to beat the yellow.
I would like to get a ticket for failing to make the free right turn though, because thats the kind of guy I am. I would like to fight that ticket just to hear the cop explain how I should have done something that I am not required to do, and how I was holding up traffic at a red light. even if I lost in court that would be worth the price of admission.

the thing that really pisses me off when driving is the people that never get up to speed on the on ramps i hate when the person in front of me is doing 40 mph so i have to merge i onto the freeway in front of cars that are going 65-70 when doing 40
