|
| So I just swapped a T5 into my car. I'm trying to bleed the clutch because I have to pump it right now for it to release and I can't seem to figure it out. It looks like there is some sort of bleed valve on the slave cylinder. Is that what it is? It doesn't look like they do on a brake caliper. Is it a torx or hex fitting or something? My entire transmission/clutch setup came from a 1989 Trans Am. |

| Well I got the plug out. It looks like it does function as a bleeder but it has no fitting for a tool to remove it. I had to use a dremel and make a screw slot on it and use that. |

Yes its an alan, and that is your bleeder.
Its a SERIOUS PITA to bleed these things. One way is to open the valve, SLOWLY compress the piston. Then while holding the piston in, close the valve. Easier said then done. _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

| Today I'm gonna have my dad help me do this. It really sucks having to pump the clutch, especially since it's new. |

| Hah! I would gladly suffer through the process of bleeding a hydro clutch before I drove with a mechanical clutch. And I say that having one in my daily (too lazy to swap to hydro). |

Amen. I love having a hydro clutch. Way easier on all accounts.
Never had a problem bleeding mine. Had the lady friend step on the clutch just like bleeding the brakes. No more air, clutch works fine. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

It's VERY easy to bleed a new clutch setup.
Fill the master full, leave the cap off. With the slave cylinder hanging with the push rod pointing down, push the slave piston all the way back into the cylinder and release slowly. Refill the master and repeat. This pushes the air up into the master, and pulls back fluid. Did this with my new T56 setup and only took two times filling the master and pushing the piston in. Haven't touched it since.
Can't get any easier than this. Took less than 5 minutes total to do this. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

| So I got my clutch bled but I haven't been able to get a new master cylinder for the brakes. My old one went kaput on the drive home from work spraying a nice mess out the back. The local Napa can only order me a brand new one for $170, Schuckles the clown wants me to wait forever. I ended up ordering one online and hopefully I'll have it by the weekend. For now I guess I'll settle for driving the S10. |

Hey, don't be dumping on S10's now.
Except for 2nd-gen S10's with the 2.2L. You can dump on those. |

| Hehe the S10 isn't bad by any means, I just want to drive my bird after all this work I've done. The S10 is pretty quick for a lil old truck. I passed this bi@tch a few weeks back while I had two 305 short blocks in the back. It's a '92 4.3 4x4. It's fun passing someone when the larger engines are laying in the back. |
