I'm in need of a good machine shop in the Kitsap County/Seattle area.

I pulled apart my 88 TPI 305 today and looks like she could use a bore/hone. I'll have the crank checked and appropriate work done along with getting the decks planed. I haven't decided yet whether or not I want to keep the stock heads and have them rebuilt or put on some aftermarket heads. My dad was telling me I could probably have the valve seats cut for larger valves if I wanted. Any suggestions there as well? I'm not trying to do anything insane to this motor as it is gonna be my driver when it is done. I'm planning on using the CompCams 08-300-8 possibly the 08-302-8.

Well actually, I'm in the market for either a decent post '87 350 block, or a good machinist, maybe both.

The only shop I know anywhere close would be Britco in Centralia. Alot of people I know have used them. They supposedly back up their work well too.

Just checked out their site and I can't argue with the prices there. It's a bit of a drive from here though. I live up near exit 186 so thats 104 miles just on I-5.

I found a place right around the corner from where I live that I'd never noticed. The shops front window is obstructing viewing the inside with a wall of v8 engine blocks. "Jay's Automotive" I just was hoping somebody could let me know if they are reputable or not. If so I could throw the parts in a red wagon and walk there if I wanted.

I drive by Jay's every day. Have no info for you though. Another shop in the neighborhood is Jantz Engineering, mainly a 4X4 shop but the guy works on everything. He has a large 3 bay garage just off from his house with at lease 2 lifts in it. I had him turn a pair of brake rotors down into hubs for my C5 brakes. Might be worth a call.

My dad has used Britco twice. We're in Chehalis, so it's right down the road from us. High prices and a huge hassle getting them to actually do the work has kept us away since then.

Granted, this was about 7-10 years ago... They lost a customer for good.

Can't speak to how well they do nowadays.

I know alot of people here have used them. I've seen a couple i wasnt impressed with, but wasnt sure if it was them or the builder. Wes teh owner of Classic Heartbeat was just really bragging them up last saturday though. Said great customer service and good work. Like you the bad experiences i've heard were all older.

I have my own machinist down here. We deal with him through the shop and I can call him whenever I have a question. So thats who I usually get to do work that I cant do myself.
