So with our local economy at an absolute stand still I went out and got a job driving over the road. Something I have always wanted to try and figured now was a good time to start earning year round paychecks.
Went to Sacramento today and all I can say is WOW! These people are insane on the road. I have never seen such wild lane changes in my life.
Right now I'm stuck in Oroville just south of Chico out of hours. Can't head north untill at least midnight. Guess I should try to sleep. Thank god for suger free Rockstars.
And for Brandon, you'll like to know that right now I'm driving a Kenworth pulling a load of logs. The band has to play Convoy now! |

I spent enough time down there in the mid 90s while stationed at Seal Beach, just south of Long Beach. Drivers are pretty crazy for sure. _________________ 92 Camaro

I lived in Sac a tamatoes for ten years. It wasnt bad then ( mid 80's) but the surrounding area where pure ghetto. I worked in Stockton for 6 months and it was like I was a cast member for " COPS" . Talk about a shizzle hole, every corner had a drug dealer or prostitude on it.
My advice is beat feet, there is nothing there for you. |

I spent 10 years over the road and ya CA sucks, but if you want the worst traffic visit Houston TX. The worst drivers are hands down in Chicago the worst state for truck driver harasment is Ohio and the worst roads belong to Louisiana (something about being built on a swamp)
I hated every second of it but still don't regret a single moment been to 49 states in truck and every major city countless towns. make the best of your time and enjoy it. The money is nice and it really doesn't seem to be affected by the economy too much |

lol, I just got back from Mesquite, NV late friday night. I didn't think the California drivers were near as insane as the Utah drivers. _________________

Cool, I'm sittin in Fernley, Nevada right now, about 30 miles east of Reno. Nevada is wierd, 70 mph on the interstate feels really fast in a loaded truck. |

Utah is insane. you can do 20MPH over as long as you have a utah plate. do 5 over with an out of state plate and see what happens. those F-ckers dident get me though. 55 through the whole state. |

Well now I'm stuck in Portland until I can unload at 7am.
Have a load of big plastic water pipes that tried to fall off of my trailer last night in the middle of the desert. |

I must've just gotten lucky there. I spent a week or so in Utah last year and never once even SAW a cop. Which is weird. 80mph everywhere I went. Incidentally, the day I was leaving some guy in a SAAB asked if my car was for sale, I said no and he jsut kept muttering, 'I will own that car someday.' I got the f out of that town! _________________

Thanks Brandon. Not really what I wanted to hear, but that's how it goes Time to start saving, or wait for the holiday bonus (if we get one). May as well save for some nice 28 spline axles too |

What a differance a couple weeks makes, I went across Nevada again this week on my way to Salt Lake City and figured out how to fool the 70 mph speed limiter on this truck. Utah was nice too, it was also 75 mph limit on the freeways. Only problem with 75mph and a head wind was making 30 psi of boost at cruise. 4 mpg FTW!! |

Ha.... You think CA sucks wait until you pass through Arizona and get to deal with the staters down there, not to mention the super confusing truck routes they have in Phoenix. They practically make the truckers circle the city ( all 125 miles of it)before they get in. I'm from Phoenix and I always felt bad for the truckers that had to deliver to the interior of the metropolis. _________________
