So me and my buddy have been doing the RB25 (Nissan R33 Skyline Motor) swap into his S14. F-Body related or not...but this is a pretty cool swap! (We are both bigtime F-Body fans too )
Started bright and early this morning, bout 8 o'clock. Had the motor/transmission out of the car by 11:30 and eatin' Taco Bell by 12...Started prepping the RB for install and then puttin' the RB back in and with a few problems that arised, engine and tranny was bolted in, ready to go by about 7 o'clock. Finished up some small stuff and we called it a night...time to do the harness and other shizzle tomorrow.
Ugly KA24...
Me undoing the downpipe.
Almost ready to pull...
Me draining some tranny fluid
Pullin'!
Pulling...
I think I cracked a joke about how shitty the KA24 is lol
Out!!!
Finken grinding away at the battery tray.
Painting the bay...
Lookin' sick!!!
Drilling holes for those stupid motor mounts...
One's done.
Me and Finken trying to finesse the bitch on.
Done
Finken and Rob moving the motor to position.
Going in!!!
How many morons does it take to put in an RB? 5 apparently...
Almost in!!!
So close...
Being a bitch!!!
Steve trying to line up the mounts...trust me. You'd rather eat your own head than do this.
Dad trying...
Wasn't fitting...surprise!!! Turns out we had to pound out the firewall for more clearance. Not reading directions FTL haha
Finken + Blurry object (Hammer) = Win
Notched
Take 2...
In the car!
Finken and Dad overlooking the mounts...lined up!!!
SWAPPED!!!
Steven happy...
Money!
Done! Well worth the time and effort.
And for the most epic pics ever. Hahaha!
Finken

Or at least 1 for me...
Looks good! Turbos are fun. You thought about swapping to a turbo on yours? _________________

Pretty cool stuff. I have no idea about those engines. What kind of difference are we talking before vs. after?

In Chevrolet terms it's about equal to an LG4 swapped out for and LS1. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

I don't know if I'd go that far. There are lots of people making power with KA's. It is a truck motor afterall. Just a bigger stigma of swapping SRs and RBs. The RB is more about potential than an out of the box powerhouse. |

I have...we will see though lol If I do, I got the tranny and motor to handle it.
KA is about 130whp stock...
RB25 on stock boost (7 psi) wil net about 265 whp. Intercool that and it will net gains close to 280 whp. Up the boost to 14 PSI intercooled with mods and it will net almost 375 WHP. _________________ 1998 Grand Prix GT | 12.91 @ 103 - Sold/Retired

Car is done!!! All we need is the driveshaft and a MAF and the car will be driveable!!
Don't mind the paint, its prep work.

Cartuning Turbo kit sucks lol Sorry, no good comes about this kit.
ZZP Stattama Z7 KIT FTW. Consisant 10.09's in the Stattama Impala.
If I get one, it will be the Turbonetics T67 or the PT-61. _________________ 1998 Grand Prix GT | 12.91 @ 103 - Sold/Retired

The quality isn't there...the turbo they use is sick, but the kit doesn't seem all that great... _________________ 1998 Grand Prix GT | 12.91 @ 103 - Sold/Retired

Ah ok. And to think I was probably going to get it after I bought my dad's 99 GT. Spend the extra $350 for that larger turbo with a 700hp potential. But I got my Firebird and now I'm throwing my money at that.

| I'll check it out, maybe my dad will get it instead. He wants it turbo'd after he gets the front end and tranny rebuilt/replaced. |

This is an interesting thread for me...
I have a good friend of mine with an S14 that is absolutely beautiful and pristine. He wants to drop in an RB25/26 when the KA starts to go south.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did the swap end up costing? It seems like a fairly simple swap to me. Have any good links for information on the web?
Reason I ask is I'll probably be the one lending my garage, tools and time to see his project through to completion. I like to know what I'm getting into ahead of time... _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

So, if you don't mind me asking; where'd he get the motor? I just helped my roommate pick up an older 280z and he's thinking about motor swaps. _________________
