1990 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z

PostPosted: Fri Jul 17, 2009 9:14 pm    Post subject: Transmission upgrades Reply with quote

My wifes 1990 IROC used to shift decent, but uncorking the exhaust with headers and cat back have made the transmission wimper. The tranny shifts horribly. The shift from 1st to 2nd at WOT takes several seconds, 2nd to drive is about the same. I have adjusted the TV cable with no change. This is bringing back memories of my 87 eating it's transmission 2 days after the new engine was installed.

It needs a shift kit and new servo, 10 years ago the best parts to install were a corvette servo and SLP shift kit.

What is the hot ticket today?

Probuilt's shift kit. He takes a transgo and modifies it a bit. I think he also includes the servo or has an option to.

The jet servo used to have the most apply area out of all of them but the corvette one will work well also. Also a .500 boost valve will help as well.

I put a transgo from Probuilt in a few weekends ago, and am loving it. Was simple to do, night and day difference from the stock 700. It came with the .500 boost valve and corvette servo kit with Viton seals.
