This is an easy question I would assume. Would a automatic tranny from 1994 Chevy Camaro 3.4l v6 work in my 1989 Firebird 2.8l v6?

Since the 3.4L is pretty much a drop in replacement for both the 2.8L and the 3.1L, the tranny should work too.

Depends on how the trans is controlled. I know in some vans in '93 the line pressures were already being controlled by the ECM.

If the trans has 4 wires and is a 700R4 then you might try it. If it's got more than 4 wires, then definitely no.

I believe the 93-95's got a 4L60 (700R4).

Still a different trans. It's based on a 700 though.

So basically when I go to the junk yard to take a look, if it has more than 4 wires, its a no go? I'm looking into one that Kitsap Truck and Auto in Port Orchard has because its the closest tranny for my car. Closest auto tranny out of a third gen is in Kent. Unless someone here has one they're willing to sell.

I'm also planning on getting a 3.4l v6 out of a 94 bird, but that's out in Shelton.

The 4l60e has a round plug on the passenger side with something around 20 pins in a square fashion.
