well i got a call from one of my friends today and turns out his neighbor has a jeep that he need to get rid of and said i could have it for free
i talked to the guy and he said that its in great shape and everything the only problem is there is a small crack in the block in a water jacket so it leaks all the water out in 5-10 min but the engine itself runs great. so im gona go pick it up on Saturday and decide what to do with it. one thing tho since the crack isnt in the cylinder walls or anything would it be at all possible to take it to a shop and have them weld the crack up? _________________

| It all depends on where the crack is. Normally welding isnt the best way to fix one in a cast block though. Some people have ok luck, some dont. You could also "stitch" the crack if its accessible. You buy a type of plug, then drill, tap, insert plug.. then do the same thing over. Overlapping each plug. If its not accessible you could always try the "waterglass"/block seal method. Sometimes that works. |

if it's a 4.0L you picked a hell of a motor to try ripping out first!
A crack that big usually means more problems. You're probably best to get a running motor off craigslist and drop it in. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

4.0L is the best engine ever put in a Jeep. Hope it is a 4.0L straight six. |
