We all use different chemicals on our cars for various things. Sometimes you don't realize what effects mixing them will have. Here's an article about what could happen when you clean parts with brake cleaner, then weld them. Scary stuff.

I read most of that over on TGO, and yeah, scary. Funny how some harmless chemicals (not saying brake cleaner is harmless) change their properties and turn into something very toxic when exposed to heat or flame Shocked

I wonder about the validity and or the brand of cleaner. I've done the same as havE co workers and never had anything happen.

Still a good reminder. Don't breathe craziness!!! A good welding respirator is in my plans. Money sucks. Lol.

I got mild galvonizing poisioning once. Coughing fits and a sore throat wasn't fun. Temporary though thank god. Makes one more aware. Even solders can contain lead!

And lead is a carcinogen which can and will cause cancer Shocked

I work with the stuff every day, both lead free and with lead. Smoke from either is not pleasant, even from the flux used to make it flow.
