My fuel system needs upgraded to run fuel injection. I got a Holley Stealth Ram setup and my spring project is to make it go!
I need fuel, I need fire...
Anyway, my car was carbureted stock. As such it has the feed and return on the passenger side frame rail. Doesn't look like a problem to leave them there. Can I flare the ends and get threaded fuel line nuts to connect a high pressure system? Will the hardlines flow enough fuel for say... 300WHP or so?
A fuel injection pickup and pump should just drop in and work in my tank, and hook up to my stock hardlines just fine also from what I recall. Been a while since I've looked at a stock fuel injection fuel system.
Would I be better off getting the tank, pickup, and lines from a TPI or V6 MPFI Camaro?
Somewhat unrelated and unimportant, does anyone know if the gauge will still work right if I have an EFI pickup in my carb tank? _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Gauge will be the same.
You gotta pull the tank anyways, you're better off getting a '90+ EFI Baffled tank and the lines. Then they'll be on the proper side (which doesn't really matter) but will have the proper metric ends to run Earl's Adapters on and run -6 Braided line to the Fuel Rails. Stock TPI pump is good to around 300RWHP if you're lucky.
3/8" Line (-6AN) will flow all you need with a high pressure EFI setup.
Myself and Schultzy are running such stock lines. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Sounds good as far as swapping my tank and lines. I'll probably do that then. Seems easier to me than messing with my 25 year old stock stuff.
I wasn't gonna use a stock TPI pump, I want to pull the tank and replace the pump only once if possible. I was thinking a Walbro 190 if it'll push enough fuel, but I wouldn't mind upgrading to a Walbro 255.
I was hoping at the minimum to push at least 300hp at the rear wheels. I know my engine is capable, just the supporting systems have to be good.
At dyno with my lean AFR problem and retarded timing I made 225hp at like 4200 RPM, and 300lb-ft at 3900. It can only go up from there! Especially with my parts.
I appreciate all your help Paul. I'm sure I'll be picking your brain a bit this summer. Hope to have it running and show off at Cows! _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I have an opportunity to pick up a set of 8 30# Accel injectors for $200. Should I just do that? They are new-in-box. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Something like an injector I'd like to have a warrenty through where I bought it. Just incase out of the box is no beuno.
I bought 2 sets of Ford injectors from Summit and loved them both.
Schultzy is running Accel and they seem to do fine. Have heard to Accel failures, not Fords. Haven't heard anything about Venom.
The Fords have 4 holes for squirters while the Accel has a old school pintle cap. Some say the Ford squirts better because of that. Dont' know if there is any truth.
Just my experiance with them. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I've been looking around on the internet, and people are saying pretty much exactly what you're telling me Paul.
Apparently the Accel injectors are iffy, and a warranty is good to have to get the bad ones exchanged.
I'm just gonna shell out for the Ford 30# ones. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56
