Can anyone help me locate a functional universal shark fin antenna? One of the slim ones would be great, I wanna put a slim shark fin antenna on my camaro to replace the old oem one. I've been looking online for like an hour and all i can find are non functional ones or model specific ones or cell phone wireless repeater ones. It's getting agravating.

If you're looking for the roof mount style, vehicle specific shouldn't matter as long as the base is flat (or fairly flat). You still need to get the appropriate length of antenna cable and also need to poke a hole in the roof. As long as it can be fully sealed, no problem.

My Sirius antenna (through roof mounted) is actually a **cough** Dodge part, the underside has MOPAR stamped on it.

Travis, scroll down some on that page and the description says "dummy." He's looking for a functional antenna. I found a site last night (I'll have to see if I can find it again..) where the company would make one for your car, but couldn't find a price range. They asked for make, model and paint code so they could make one for you....

ah, well, his LOOKS like that one. If anyone is interested I have several film antenna's. They are about 20" long and 1/2" wide meant to be stuck to the inside of you're window.

I also heard that stuffing the OEM antenna under the dash pad works just as well. Isn't that what Jake did?

Hey Al, if the site you found was for onr called a vg or something like that. they only have shark fins available per model replacement for cars that came with them from the maker. they ask for the yr/make/model/color so they send you the right replacement.
.
I found a few online but nothing locally. they range about $40.

I actually made a wire loop using speaker wire and have that stuffed under the dash. It works ok, i think an actual antennae would work better though.

but there is nothing cooler than a shaved antennae Cool

i have my ant under the dash. it was a power one, but it broke and was to costly to fix. i was going to shave it anyways, so i got a rubber universal one at Schucks for cheap...it's like 3-4 feet or something. i just put it under the dashpad, ziptied it in, and it works great.

...never had a problem with it.

I talked to my friends at the car stereo shop. Best answer any of them had was to find one from a JY VW or Mercedes, which was basically what I was also leading to. If it has a fairly flat base that can be easily sealed, you should be OK.

ya i was starting to think i should use one from a jetta. I want to put it just behind my t-top bridge over the spot where that hole is in the bracing. it should be perfictly dead center, plus i can run all my wires through the bridge.

Never seen one of those! Kinda neat. I mean built into the glass itself. Dad has one on his 72 camaro. Seems to work well and looks cool.

How's your dad's work in the rain paul? I remember our old chevy truck, every time the wipers went over the windshield antennae it would make static.

I think my 71/2 malibu had one too, but don't remember now what the radio sounded like.. Probably didnt even use the radio! lol.. cassettes ruled!

FYI, the new camaro comes with a shark fin style antenna and it's only ~$30.
