Okay the 1991 3.1 v6 had a bad vaccum leak. Looks like some one replaced the heads. painted blue and a new plug cap on one of the back heads.
Pulled compression test on engine was good betweeen 130-150 PSI before doing intake gasket and timing chain.
Just put it back together.
Now here is the problem. No Compression in number 4 cylinder. Have tried adjusting the valves a number of times and still no compression.
Have done both ways that I read about on the TGO board to no avail and have use my 1992 factory sevice manual.
The push rods do move the valves just dont know if they are opening the valves. Since no compression. Is there something I am missing. If the intake gasket was cocked or moved during insulation. Would that casue a no comression issue.
I dont think so but I have to ask. Have done intake on 3.1 before and have never had this problem.
The cylinder is moving manual cranked it and the cylinder does move. Use a screw driver.
Any help would be appricated. _________________ kurfbird

I know the valve adjusting on the v6's is a pita. Are you just getting low compression on it, or just flat 0?
Have you ran it since it was put back together? _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

Okay started car ran good then started bubbling in the over flow then oil in the overflow. So Now its a bad head gasket.
SO I went to to the parts store and got a head gasket kit and new bolts. Pulled the heads no cracks or anything out of the ordinary. Installed new gaskets and torque then up to sepcs.
That is the second time that I repalced an intake gasket and then the head gasket went bad.
Almost makes me wish that I would have did the heads in the first palce.
If weather is good and I have the time the intake and everything will be going back together tomorrow. _________________ kurfbird
