Yeah that's no fun. Vice grips, channel locks, sticking a screw driver through it.
Always put them on by hand. No tools.
I had one stuck on the camaro last year before dyno. I had to physically tear it apart down to the metal screw on piece and unscrew it with pliars. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Fram is the worst oil filter money can buy. They couldn't pay me to use their filters.
You make sure to put oil on the rubber O-Ring? Helps em not get stuck also.
Set of those will do you nicely. Don't be afraid to rip and tear the thing off. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

It will crush. Use the pliars to tear off piece by piece twisting counter clockwise. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Agree, I was thinking Fram before I read thats what it was.
Worst oil filter on the market.
Screw driver is how I got all my crushed frams off. |

a screwdriver and a hammer has always worked for me with stubborn filters.
Just have a drip pan handy! _________________

| i've been using fram ever since i started changing oil as long as i can remember this is the only trouble i've ever had but eh, acually in general this is the most problem i've ever had with a filter im usually able to muscle em off but im thinking i'm still not 100% on strength yet |

My fram comment is based on it's inability to filter. It's the worst filter for your engine. Get a napa gold/wix gold. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

About Fram filters, thats all we have at Knecht's, when I change my oil, what do I do? Go to Baxter's and get a Wix. lol _________________

Exactly. Or Napa and get the same filter. Napa's Gold line is Wix Gold.

| I know some don't want to pay the price for a wix. They arent that spendy, but if you really do need a cheapie. The delco filters arent that bad and are sold at walmart real cheap. The Napa/wix are just the highest rated readily available filters out there. There are some that are even better but you pay for it. Basically get anything except a fram or one of the filters made by fram for someone else. |

Worth the money? To me no. I just get a napa filter. But they rate the K&N slightly higher and some people like Ian like the nut on the bottom. If I was running an extended oil interval like 15k miles.. then maybe i'd buy a filter like the K&N. |

Sometimes it's where you work and not who you know that gets a good price. I get napa gold through my work and seem to have good luck. _________________ 12th Man Seahawk Fan |

That's what I got the last couple of times. I asked what it crossed to and the parts guy said it was a WIX in a NAPA package. Anyone know if this is true?? _________________ 92 Camaro
