Looks like my first T-5 is on its way towards destruction. Started at Cows when something happenned and I thought it was just the tranny mount broken and scewing up the clutch linkage. Not so. Last week it started getting stuck in gear and would be a mo fo to get back into neutral. Then it started getting stuck in neutral when shifting on the road. Pulled the shifter out this weekend and there was alot of metal shavings in the little grooves that the shift rod slides in and alot of metal in the oil in general.
Jen helped me today and got the spare tranny in it so this week I hope to pull the old on apart and see what is in there and how to go about fixxing it. Hopefully pulling it as soon as it developed problems will make it an easy and inexpensive fix. Besides, I rebuilt the engine and rear end my self, it is only right that I figure out how to rebuild the tranny.
BTW Paul, still no freaking headers. I did however take the cat back off and put it under the RS to help sell it. Took the broken I-pipe from the RS and welded a $20 muffler on it that dumps right before the rear axle. You would be so proud. Sounds like a mean SOB plus I picked up some extra scoot on the top end. |

| You sure you're clutch is disengaging all the way? It's very easy to mix those up. I lost some hydraulic fluid in the GMC and it would be very hard to get in or out of any gear/neutral.... |

| Yeah, I am running a mechanical linkage and I adjusted it up in the trouble shooting stage. This think would get stuck in gear sitting in the garage not running or anything and when it would get stuck in neutral driving I couldn't even bring the rpm's up to match and get it to go into gear. Something internal is happenning. |

Kit Prices (you build it using your transmission) 1st to 4th gear sets, includes 1st,2nd,3rd mainshaft gears, 26 spline input shaft with input drive gear (4th), complete cluster shaft with gears 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and cluster drive gear (4th)

it can be assumed that with the available upgraded mainshaft, the G-Force T-5 kit will handle roughly 600 hp or 500 ft-lb. or torque in a 3300 lb. vehicle running drag radials at the track with a moderate clutch upgrade.

Maybe if it didn't sit for 5 years before somebody got the ambition to use it. |

I'd offer you the T56 I've got but it's attached to something awaiting installation, so shipping would be a bitch, and I'd miss it _________________

I've only been staring at it a few weeks...
so far.
since i'm more or less starting with a platform that needs everything, and have the majority of everything, I think I'll be more inclined to finish this project before the winter...
I hope.
I'd like to have it down now though...
Rodney... i never did ask though...
how did that clutch work out? that's still in decent shape right?

Clutch is in great shape. I am still happy about the whole tranny purchase from you. Like I said before, every nut, bolt, washer, or part I needed for the swap was in that box. Tranny just needs a little work before I put it back in there for another year. I don't exactly baby this car around the block. shizzle happens, parts break. |
