Is the car still a 700r4? If it is a quadrajets going to be the easiest one to set up on it. Holley will give you the most power, but their 700r4 brackets wouldnt work for me. So it cost me $120 for a bowtie overdrives kit to make it work. An afb/edlebrock is going to be the most dependable carb of the bunch, but will give up power to the holley, and mileage to the quadrajet. Also if you're going from efi or electronic carb remember you'll need a non ecm distributor and a torque convertor lockup kit.
The holley and edlbrock will require an adapter plate, even on a performer intake, so take hood clearance into account.
Reason the quad is easiest is they used them on these cars, so all the parts are out there to make it work. The quads are also variable in size, so doesnt matter too much if its too big. Otherwise i'd stick to a 600cfm size in either of the other brands.
The AFB style carb is the easiest to tune, and it will hold the tune when you're done. The holley is the most tuneable carb, but it will change with the weather. And the quad can be tuned but its a real pia, luckily they just generally work as is. |

| If the throttle shaft isnt all worn out, then that would be easiest. You'll get the best mileage and have nearly all the performance of the other carbs. They're simple to rebuild too. Theres a few performance tweaks you can do too. |

Just a tip for when you rebuild a carb,
Clear off the whole work bench you will be using. You will need WAY more space than you think. Then, cover the whole thing in newspaper. Place the carb on the far right side of the bench and take off a piece. place that piece on the newspaper right above the carb. move the assembly to the right and repeat.
when you get to the far side of the bench and realize that your carb is in a bajillion pieces you will be very happy that you left it all in the order you took it apart in. Then you take a deep breath and start putting it all back together again with the new pieces and PRAY YOU DON'T HAVE PIECES LEFT OVER

That's about the exact thing I did when I rebuilt the T56. Just layed it on the table exactly how it came out of the case (along with lots of pictures) |

ah, I wasn't the focused with the two DP's I rebuilt.
labeled ziplock bags work just as well, since I had limited space to work with. _________________
