700's are expensive to build, but gresham transmission is the way to go. I race with the owner and hes built the trannys in all of my rigs and the work perfect. 5036697346. _________________ '89 GTA - '91 z28 - '66 Impala - '98 Burban - '06 GSX-R |

A little far away I'm sure.
Parkland Transmission does good work. Dirty Steve is friends with the owner and he built the 700r4 thats in my buddies TPI350 Cherokee but it's still going to be expensive. Trick is finding someone that doesn't just rebuild it fix some of its downfalls.
I'd look into a manual trans swap or something myself. I've never looked at the internals of an auto farther than a shift kit or two but manuals trans are REAL easy to rebuild. _________________

If you do decide to go to a 5spd let me know. I've got a NWC T5 in very good condition with a Hurts billet plus, and brand new stock style clutch. Everything to change over including the pedals and hydraulics. Only thing I don't have is the shifter plate for the console.
It will take about 2 days of work to swap to the T5, but it's just remove and replace. Only part that is complicated is cutting the hole for the clutch master cylinder. But I have a set of 4th gen pedals that has a support bracket that will give you the exact location to drill the mounting holes, and it's easy to figure out the middle hole with the mounting holes drilled. |

He needs a V6 bell housing, and isn't the input shaft different for the V6?

Yeah, sorry man. I don't think I'll be able to until some of this snow clears away. My bird and the vette are taking up most of the garage space and if I even think about asking my mom to move the 'vette outside in this stuff she'll shoot me. I can ask one of the guys at my shop if he'd do it for you on Saturday when it's slow or something if you want? |

I didn't see anything in his post about a V6. Just assumed it was an 8.
Yes, V6 and V8 inputs are different. You can cut down a V6 input and get a special disk and put the 6cyl tranny behind an 8, but it's not a real good idea to do this. I don't think you can adapt a V8 trans to a 6 banger.
I've seen cars with a 6 and a T5 sit in the yard for a month or two, so pretty easy to find a 6cyl tranny. |

any chance I can talk you into selling me the shifter? I'll give you my cut down stock shifter so you're not out something for the whole setup. _________________
