after dropping my girlfriend off at work i was headed east on 23rd aproaching lovejoy, i was stopped in traffic and a garbage truck pulled out from the curb directly into my right front fender. the 16" formula wheel was damaged, the tire was shredded, and the fender and door both have scrapes and dents.
insurance info was exchanged. this was on friday. i attempted to post this then... but must have clicked preview instead of submit.
the car needs an alighnment and there may be some frame issues. |

Shouldn't be any frame issues for that kind of hit.
That sucks. You're having all kinds of trouble with that car. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

3 accidents in the last six months. 1 my fault, one not my fault, and one hit and run.
the inner metal fender looks pushed in, that truck is measured in TONS.probably 4-8 of them. he pushed me a good foot before he even noticed he hit me. the garbage company is self insured, i don't know if thats good or bad. _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

That. Sucks.
I think I still have another one of those wheels rolling around my garage if push comes to shove. _________________

Should just be cosmetic and front end alighnment.
Hopefully the "self insured" turns out ok. |

WOW Tony, I'm sorry to hear that! You better start taking care of that thing before it just decides she has had enough! Hope you get her fixed and back on the road soon!

Oh, nice. Almost run over completely by a garbage truck. Those are big machines. Glad you didn't get hurt. |

Glad you're okay though, there's some crazy people out there.
I can keep my eye on the yards for a white Firebird fender. _________________

thanks for the kind word everyone. and yes it could have been much worse, he coud have pushed me into the oncoming lane!
i got all the estimations done today, had to go to a few different places. body guy said frame damage is unlikley due to the hit location, and he "eyballed it" and said it looked good. i'll know for sure when i have it aligned.
total came out to just under $1,800. well under the value of my car acording to NADA. (2,000 low retail, 5,xxx high retail). if i see half that i should still come out a few dollars ahead after doing most of the work myself.
i also spoke to my insurance company, they said due to the nature of the accident, (what with being struck by a parked truck and all) that this should not cause my insurance to go up at all. so thats a nice thing.
rodney and ian, you both have PMs. |

Man, that sucks, you've been having some bad luck lately with that car lately.
That's a little more than mine came to a couple of years ago with similar damage ($1500). Only difference besides being on the other side is your wheel was damaged too. I had a similar crease and then a little damage to the plastic by the headlight, my wheel only lost its center cap. _________________ 92 Camaro

If its the truck's fault and they're paying, Maybe you could put some of your own money and get that hood painted?
Just a thought. _________________
