The last time I went to change my in-line filter on the Formula, I stripped the threads on one of the fittings, making it impossible to put a new filter on tightly.
For a temp fix I got a different filter with slip-on style ends, some rubber 3/8s FI hose and some clamps, and clamped it onto my fuel line...
I want to be able to run a stock filter and fix/replace these fittings, I guess my question is.... how do I approach fixing this? |

Heli-Coil maybe?
If they're compression/tapered fittings though, I'm not sure you can get a heli-coil that will work. _________________

That would probably be the easiest way, and then just rebend the line to make up for cutting it.
Dunno how TBI cars are plumbed, but if you can remove that section of the line, you can have a local oil filter or plumbing place reflare and refit it for you for practically nothing. I had the power steering lines on the Merc done for like five bucks. |

Kool, I was thinking I would try fixing the threads first with a die... (Don't think they're tappered).
If that doesn't work, I'll cut the end off and re flare it I guess. I believe the line on mine is plumbed the same as TPI cars, out by the left rear tire.
Thanks for the input, I guess Im gonna teach myself to flair lines! |

They are a standard type thread. Most likely metric. If it's the line from the filter back to the tank... I'd just hit the JY and pick up a whole line rather than fudging with flaring down there. It's a big flare and doing it without a vice sucks. So if you'd take the line off to re-flare you might as well just do a new line.
Other problem with re-flaring... you might not have enough length in the line to do it.
Plus you wanna make sure you don't get any metal shavings in there from flaring and or running a die! _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
