Not sure if iv posted this before but i bought some Edelbrock valve covers a while back and havent been able to put them on because the old ones wont come off. I have tried prying but cant gain to much leverage because i might break the exhaust manifold. Is there a certain trick to getting these things off? They wont budge at all! |

i had the same trouble on my car. On mine at least it was cause by two things....One, the gaskets had sealed to both surfaces and neither wanted to give, and two the lip of the vavle cover was caught under the lip of the intame manifold or runner... |

Im pretty sure its not stuck under the intake manifold so how would i go about getting them off if its the gaskets stuck to both sides? I tried just about everything from trying to pry it to nocking it loose and no luck at all. |

Some stick so hard you have no choice but to bend the cover up a bit. Try to get a screw driver between the head and gasket... If its a cork gasket you should be able to get a driver through the cork. Once its through pry up a bit.. You may have to insert the driver in multiple places before you can get it to come loose. Have a fun time scraping all that off when you finally get it.. Good Luck |

Rubber hammer! On the front corner nearest the intake, hitting towards the brake booster (on drivers side) or A/C dryer (pass. side)
Over and over and over until it comes loose!

I could never hammer stuck ones loose, always pry with a screw driver.
Unless you are replacing the covers, then beat the S*** out of em!!!! |

guess i never really had a problem with mine...
but if they stick, if there is a hole for the a breather, just use a crowbar and pry outward a bit the length of the cover depending on where the hole might be...
though its more entertaining to pound the hell out of something I'm sure... hehe...
but instead of using a screwdriver, invest in a half inch wide chisel with a bevelled edge... hammer that in a few times and pry...
bit stronger i would think
or use the crowbar that way too |

that is because you didn't have ramrod helping you
if they are REALLY stuck, get rodney and his hammers to come pay you a visit.
he LOVES to go after other peoples car with a hammer |
