So Tim (305302eater) and I went out to play in Tahuya. Our Second time there, first for Tim in his Loyale 4x4 Wagon.

It was some great, dusty dirty fun and we had our share of adventures that can only come with being new to Tahuya's trail system. For those not familiar, Tahuya is a state forest ORV park run by the Department of Natural Resources. Free to play and extremely stock vehicle friendly, but it is not without its obstacles or challenges....and there is always something for an extreme vehicle to do there that we have no chance of.

The only issue we had was when Tim was pressured into taking the road less traveled out one of the service intersection roads so we could get home without doing the next 5 miles of the trail. This was the most interesting part of the evening:

That thing needs a lift and some 30's. Smile

You should've posted up! I'm sure Dirty Steve and I would've cruised out in something, either his jeep or pathfinder.

Nice. I saw you were looking for some factory skid plates... did you get them on and test them out?

Friend of mine was there about two weekends ago and had a blast. He said he had an unfair advantage with what he was driving.

This is what you need to go four wheeling with...

First gear top speed is... oh about... 5mph. It'll crawl over almost anything.

I figured you'd be on naxja.org lol
I haven't gotten anything interesting yet, just that offer for a freebie I need to pick up. Everyone wants to charge me 50 dollars for stock crap that i can get from Warn for 60. Its either go junk yard hopping or wait for a jeep with armor to come in to the lot. I did however have some huge tow hooks installed from my dads parts bin that came in handy when the bubaru' needed some help.

How is your jeep Jon?

Yeah, I don't post there much, but its good for information. Paul is on there also.

Mine is good, runs like a champ. How did you hook the tow hook in? Paul made a bracket for me to use to attach one on the front of mine. I really need some good bumpers with revovery points on there. One of these days when the audi is done, and the camaro is in good working order, I'm goign to lift it and go with some 33's.

The Tow Hooks were done with custom brackets, probably just like what Paul can make you. My exhaust guy did them for me for 60 dollars, installed with heavy grade bolts and all.

Next comes a tranny cooler and then some tint and a chambered cat back. I want to lift and go crazy but I know that will be too far in the someday category to even worry about it. Unless some 33s and a lift come into the car lot, I'll de-pimpify something and swap it all over. Twisted Evil

ahahaha.

Yeah Tim I snapped a shot, Twisted Evil
The subaru did everything the Jeep did and also sounds meaner than the Jeep thanks to the lack of a muffler and the sweet rumble of a boxer 4

I want exhaust. Mad

Are those hooks seriously tied in with 1 bolt on a bracket and 1 bolt from the bracket to the hook?

You're going to rip those off in a hurry. John's has 2 or 3 bolts on the bracket to the frame and 2 bolts to the bracket through the tow hook. It flexes like crazy, holds good but I can only imagine a single bolt setup.

You can't see the whole set up, so don't worry. A few grade 8s tie in each to the front frame rail, and it has had no issues with a 3900 lb recovery but If issues arise I'll have the setup changed.

Mine doesn't flex in its current state, how does Jon's flex? Seems like a better angle of install than mine with snappy purple paint Very Happy
