Well I've been kind of following some of the hype surrounding this car and figured I'd give my opinion on it when I saw it in person for myself. So here's my opinion. On the looks department it it a lot better looking in person than in any pictures, the quality of everything seems to be top notch.
Now, for the performance. Keep in mind I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS STOCK. I will be going back the the track today to talk to the owner. He is participating in the Time Attack at PIR so I'll see if I can find out his lap times. However he did do some drag racing, er a drag race. we had to kick him off after the first run of 11.27@122mph. looks like it may be living up to everything thats been said about the car. Picture's soon to follow. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Quite as impressive car. Very large comparitively. I just watched a recent Top Gear where Clarkson raced Hammond and May across Japan. Very entertaining. The stig romped it around their track and it was very high on their list. For how much that thing costs, it's impressive. I wonder what kind of markup is occuring. _________________

Performance figures seem to be ALL over the place. I have seen people give times anwhere from 111mph to 126mph. I still think the ZR1 is going to whipe the table with the GTR.

Way to many rumors at this point. I've heard all kinds of stuff about "untunability" and then Mine's mysteriously hacks the ECU. Rumors are also flying about the transaxle durability, and the 1/4 mile numbers seem to range from 13's to low 11's.
What we need is some rich person to buy one and test it out for us. |

I'm hoping my Nissan store will get one. If so, I'll go get quite a few pictures. They evidently have to wait until two of their techs are "certified GTR techs" before they can order one. Same with with Chevy and the Zo6 and ZR1. I doubt we're getting a ZR1 though. |

Ok, found out some info on the GT-R that was at PIR this weekend...
It was not stock, it was modified by Cobb Tuning. Info from the guys at PIR who were running and talked to the guy. They also said that it was running on Toyo R compound tires, not the stock tires.
| Quote: | They have got a bit of weight out of the car. It is down to 3570 lbs without driver on the 20 inch wheels. We guessed at the weight might be down to around 3500 even with the 19" wheels and tires. They have the Sparco seats in it, have removed the A/C. Added an additional oil cooler. They said boost for this event was just under a bar.
