I think I'm earning a reputation for the slowest truck in town. Laughing I had three different trucks run on me yesterday and I got smoked each time. The first was an F150, the next was an Explorer V8, and the last was some hopped up custom Chevy 1500 door slammer.

For those who don't know, I picked up a 2002 Duramax crew cab 4x4 a couple months ago. It has a 4-inch turbo back and Edge Juice with Attitude. It's darn quick under the right conditions.... and apparently that condition is only from a standing start.

With the first two I let the other guys set the pace. They didn't run until about 25 mph. I stomped it to the floor and the trans just didn't know what to do. It's kind of hard to pass somebody operating between 1500 and 2000 rpm. Rolling Eyes

The door slammer was a nice truck and putting out some horsepower. I was behind him when he took off from a stop light. I ran up on him quick and had to let off the throttle before I could change lanes to pass. But letting off the throttle caused me to lose boost and the tranny went back to low rpms. At that point the tranny was all confused and would't up shift again. Rolling Eyes

But I think I figured something out today! If I put the tranny in 'tow mode' then it seems to hold gears under part throttle while in a race tune. I think that might fix this issue of moving out from a rolling start. Now I just need to get another chance at those guys.... especially since they now think I'm slow. Very Happy

I was actually going to suggest that. Laughing

My stepdads '07 Dmax is the same way. He put in a hypertech programmer and it'll bang gears in tow or manual mode but in regular mode it'll hang each gear for a good second and a half between shifts. Weird stuff.
