I got a letter today from the IRS (12th). It says that I will receive my stimulus check no later than the 9th.
Let's see.... if that's the letter telling me about what to expect....  |

No kidding about filling the fuel tank.
Diesel was $4.60 / gallon tonight. Not sure what sparked an instant spike in the price, but I hope it goes down within a week before I have to fill up again! It's bound to go up all summer once Memorial Day roles around. I think if the price goes down before Memorial Day then I will fill both trucks and the Jeep. That will take me through the entire summer without having fill again. The Chevy Duramax has a 1400 mile range. The Ford Powerstroke can go 450 miles. And the Jeep... well it's about a 250 mile rig but the fuel is about a dollar cheaper. |

What'd you go with?
I've been looking at ditching my z06 stuff for alcons. There are kits that pop up on corvette forum used fairly often. Although lots of my money has been going to being saved for moving. |

How big of tank have you got in that Duramax? My Dodge has about a 600 mile range with the 35 gallon tank. Either you get great fuel economy or have a huge tank.

You'll have to come to cows to find out. 
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the Z06 and its multiple pads to begin with, so that swap was never on my radar.
Did you make your own brackets? If so, you might look at AP racing brakes too, if not Alcons are nice too. The problem with the brakes like that though, is finding descent street pads, that don't need a lot of temp in them to start working. |

RacingBrake.com has been doing a few things to try and bandaid the problems with the z06 stuff. They teamed up with Hawk to make a significantly thicker pad than stock, as well as replace the pad bolts with versions with actual heads on them so you're less likely to just snap off tools or strip them out. Although, those are just bandaids. Baer has used alcon calipers on quite a few of their c5/c6 kits so there are a few decent pad sets out there for them, plus it'd be easier to change when I do finally take it to the track. The brackets are from Ed. They were for a c5 upgrade so theoretically any c5/c6 kit should bolt right on. I think I'm just going to start out with replacing the stock GM pads and bolts and hope I can find a floating rotor that doesn't cost $600 for the pair.
Oh and I'll be at cows alright to at least gawk at the massive brake-age. |

Mine gets Ian's old brake setup (the stuff he isn't keeping) and some stuff to start my brake mods. I picked up a pair of spindles to modify and a set of old rotors to turn down this weekend. Ian, bring the brakes to cows if we don't run into each other before then and I'll take them off your hands

Sweeeeeet. I love BBKs. Especially on any of our cars.
I probably won't have time to cruise out there until cows anyways so I'll just plan on bringing them. Do you need rotors for hubs? I've got a set of those and matching lug studs to instal in them.

| I acquired a set of rotors with a pair of spindles, not the greatest shape but they'll make decent hubs. I may take those off your hands too, just in case |

I've got an auxiliary 60 gallon tank with an integral tool box.  I'm assuming 16.5 mpg in the city. That let's me drive normal with several full throttle blasts mixed in to stroke my ego. I can get 18.5 mpg if I feather the throttle everywhere but it just takes too much effort... and it's BORING! |

I get similar economy with the cummins, just without the 60 gallon aux tank. I still like to haul a camper sometimes. I have thought about replacing the 35 with a 65 though. Then I would need a loan to fill it.

The fuel cost will be the same over time. In fact, the extra tank may save you some money by allowing you more time to pick and choose better prices between filling. But it will never pay for extra cost of the tank itself.
It's pretty much just a choice about convience. Both my Ford and Chevy short boxes have about 26 gallon tanks. When I trailored the car back home I filled on average every 250 miles. It's a pain driving with a trailer into every gas station between Washington and Illinois. You have to work a little on faith that you'll be able to navigate through when you commit to pulling into the parking lot. |

My Ford has the two factory tanks that hold about 38 gallons, then I have a 105 gallon L-shaped tank in the bed. If I figure a 15mpg average I should have a 2145 mile range. I'm getting ready to install a 3 spd aux. transmission behind the tranfer case now, hopefully my mpg average will improve quite a bit. |

We go figure.... I filled up today and got 18.5 mpg city and I wasn't even trying. I'll have to see if this keeps occuring.... and not try!
This is only my 3rd tank so I'm trying to feel out where is averages. |
