i'm sure this has been talked about before...
what do you guys recommend for spark plugs?
i've heard ok things about ac delco and nkg (..i know, i know, they're forgien plugs.....) but would like some opinions from the guys who drive them!
i've also heard to stay away from bosch plugs.
new autolites were installed not to long ago...but they're cheap ford plugs. my mechanic said they're ok and they work...but they're not the best.
what do you guys recommend? _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

you pretty much said it yourself. NKG's are pretty good and stay away from bosch plugs.

| Nothing wrong with autolites. They're recommended by most of the aftermarket ignition companies even. AC and ngk are both good as well. Champion and bosch suck. |

what about bosch platinums?
i've also heard nkg's don't last very long, and require more changing. _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

Bosch Platinum = junk. I had nothing but idle problems with my IROC when using them. Ask Ian how much improvement we noticed when we swapped Platinum +4 plugs for NGK's in his Blazer.
I haven't had NGK's burn out any faster than anything else I've used, but I haven't used them as much as Autolites. |

Don't even consider Bosch. I tried the +4's once and had plenty of problems with them. I now run NGK's. As someone who used to work at Knecht's Auto parts, don't use Bosch with an American car, I've heard plenty of complaints. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Bosch are junk
I run Autolites in everything I have. Good for 330HP to the wheels! |

Autolites or Delcos for me.
Always had success with both. I don't even like NGK's. Ran em' once on one of my Fairlanes and had a ton of bog/misfire. _________________

Autolites and NGK. Been running NGK for last 2 or 3 years. Great plugs IMHO. Autolites were always good to me as well.
Looks like you are getting pretty consistent hits on Autolites in each opinion. Can't go wrong there.

| I'm running autolites also, I have had OK luck with them. I have also heard good things about NGK (IIRC Paul ran NGK's for a while). |

I've never ran autolites but always heard good things.
For some reason both my TA and my blazer had bosch +4's in them when I got them. Yanked 'em and swapped for just regular ol' NGK V-powers. |

I've running Autolites for several years on all my vehicles.
What makes a plug junk? Is it how far into the chamber the plug sits? I've also heard clocking can help gain a little more power by a more complete burn. I've never done it though. _________________ E30

I'm not sure what is wrong with bosch. In a european car they seem to work fairly well. You wouldnt think there'd be much difference. They also have alot of gimmick plugs. Multiple grounds does nothing for you but make a plug last longer. You still only get one spark to the nearest ground electrode, meanwhile the other electrodes are building up carbon.
Now the champions are very inconsistent. You'll find some dead right out of the box. I've taken an ohm meter to a set of 8 copper core champions. Some are as low as 8ohms.. some like 80ohms. |
