As some of you are aware from following previous posts, my Truck was hit on Friday night, while it was parked on the street. Went to the Tow yard to get some of my stuff out this morning and took some photos.

I guess the lady dropped her cell phone and was digging around for it, took her eyes off the road and, WHAM... here's the results:

Lovely pile of broken parts...

And here's her car....

Doh!!!

If the chassis is ok, you can fix it! I can help you if you need. I also think you need to start to remove the rear bed, and see how it's involved the chassis. If there are some damage on it.

I have hands free in the 92, works great except for dialing - I need to figure out voice tags Laughing

Glad you weren't in there, that's a nasty hit...

Wow man. Looks like what happened to the S10 when my brother bought it. We took the bed off, pulled the dent out of the cab with a tree and a come-along. Put a wood bed on it and it was a runner.

Sorry to see the carnage though man. Looks like you ripped enough to be a pain to put back together.

The police estimated that she was doing between 30-40mph on impact.

I couldn't see any visible skid marks on the road, so I don't know if she tried to use the brakes at all.

Estimater from her insurance company (GEICO) called today. The people who checked it out also noted a fracture in the transmission tailshaft by the driveline yoke. Nothing's quite offical yet, but he said it will likely be a Total.

Suprisingly though the lady who hit me was able to get out of the car and was just fine, short of a cut on her forehead and a bruise on her thigh.

I'm glad I wasn't in the truck either....smacking your cranium on that rear window doesn't sound like a good time to me.

That's some serious damage for 30-40 mph. Doesn't look like she hit the brakes even on impact from the looks of her car. The 'scort has held up better than that Honda!

Well, I talked to her insurnace adjuster today, and finally got some numbers about the value of the truck and what I'm gonna be seeing. I have to admit, I was a little suprised at the number.

Based on mileage and condition and age of the truck they're giving me $1650 for the thing.

I'm going tomorrow to the GEICO office to surrender the title and registration and collect the check.

This will be good, because it will give me a green light to go ahead and find cheap 305 or 350 for the Berlinetta, and get it up and rolling.

Keep your eyes peeled guys for a Decent running 305/350/other SBC. Can't use roller blocks, because I have a mech fuel pump. Doesn't need to be a powerhouse, just a good running motor that doesn't smoke or leak anything.

Roller block is fine. Use a different cam if there is no lobe. You could even get a decent used tappet cam and run the roller lifters on it. Just check pushrod height.

WOW Chris! That's great. I'm amazed that an insurance company is coming through for you without you having to get some ambulance chasing, as seen on TV lawyer.
Of course, don't get too excited until that check is cashed and the moolah is in your hand. Smile

Yeah, If nothing else just run an electric fuel pump. If I was shopping for a SBC I think a roller motor would be a must have if possible.
