Ok.. so i finally got my camaro back.. i'll hopfully have rims on by this coming saturday.. but for now i took them off and painted them, i only have this 1 pic for now.. but after i finish the rest of the wheels i'll get more pics up... i can honestly say i'll never recommend maaco to anyone.. there's still spots i'm not happy with.. but i'll just wait for the paint to cure then take it to a body shop that knows what their doing..

so here's the pic..

and a before if you don't remember what it looked like

Looks good in the picture. My purple 92 was panted at Maaco several years ago and much of that has been repaired due to insurance claims for accidents (all in parking lots, and none of which were my fault). There are still some spots on it that could have been prepped better before the paint was applied, but for a daily driver, it'll do...

You get what you pay for. Maaco isn't going to give you a show paintjob.

FWIW, I took my 89 to a regular body shop to get an estimate on a restore/repaint. Since collision repair is their normal line of work, this would be a "back burner" type job and quite alright by me since I have a second car to drive. My estimate included a time frame of 6 - 8 months and $6,000 to $8,000. This included a complete disassembly of the car, including all the glass and replacement of all the seals and weather stripping.

Paul is right, you get what you pay for, but my Maaco shop also did a decent job for something to use as a daily driver.

6-8k for them to disassemble/paint/new rubbers is a pretty low price.

I thought so too, but I don't have the money to do that. Maybe when some other stuff gets done first...

Yea parking lots is somthing i fear.. i'm waiting for the paint to dry on the wheels then it will be all set to go for the week.. and as for the get what you pay for.. i expected a lil more for $2230.. i went all around my car before i brought it in.. i gave them the parts for the front end.. all they needed to do was put them on.. and all they needed to do was fix 1 little dent on the upper left fender.. then next thing you know they found 4 more dents later.. even tho their estimater went out there with me and looked over it all too and that was all he found too.. idk.. kinda venting here lol.. but all and all.. i'm happy, my first car with paint on it Smile

Now you got a shiny car for the girl to pose with Wink

I worked at a body shop right out of highschool. We mostly did lifts and conversion vans for disabled people. But if it was a full car paint job, he refused to do it w/o disassemble of the car. However, we left the windows in. I took so many cars apart, I dont even want to count.

If it was just 1 panel and dent repair, it depened upon the job what we did.

2 of the best memorys from that shop..

1. Was given some keys at close, and told "pull the blue car in". I walk outside and its a 66/67 vette vert, fully restored. I was so scared about damaging it, I couldnt clutch it right. Boss gets in, lays rubber across the parking lot. Laughing Dudes garage door fell outta track and landed on the car, we got to fix it.

2. I come to work in the AM. Have a massive RV infront of the bay door. I walk up, boss hands me a sawzall, points to it and says "cut the marked section out". I'm Confused I start cutting. Found out later it was a 300k RV. Shocked We were putting a lift in the side.

That vette story hurts.. lol

and i'm a fan of shiny too it isn't as shiny now tho.. i think the lord saw i once again had to paint and no closed area to do it for the rims.. and he decided it'd be a good time to have the wind start blowing.. but all and all they didn't turn out too bad good enough for a weeks worth of driving.. after that i'll probley just sell them
