I went to the crossroads guitar festival all day sunday...

good lineup...

Neal Schon w. Jonathan Cain
Steve Vai
Sonny Landreth
Pat Metheny
Larry Carlton
John McLaughlin
Robery Cray
Jimmie Vaughn
Hubert Sumlin w. David Johansen
Booker T & The MG's
Bo Diddley
David Hidalgo
Joe Walsh
Vince Gill (though i hate country i have to admit he's a damn good guitarist)
James Taylor
BB King
Buddy Guy
Carlos Santana
Eric Clapton
Jeff Beck
and ZZ Top

and to top it off... probably one of the best jam sessions ever to be seen, heard or thought of live or on an album... Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Jimmie Vaughn... and the King of Blues.... BB King. all together... was downright amazing...

ZZ Top closed the night out, first time i've ever seen them perform, and they went heavy on the bass... as soon as they were introduced, first note played, lightening struck all across the sky, and as soon as they ended, it started pouring ...

unfortunately i have no pictures, so I look forward to pictures from you guys of the cows, since i missed that.

though, methinks i got the better end of the deal, you guys had to deal with bart Wink

That sounds awesome but Bart in the tutu all day in downtown Skamokawa was priceless!

two problems.

1: I have no digital camera Sad (EOS Rebel taking longer to be shipped than expected)
2: They wouldn't allow cameras like that anyway since it does high rez high zoom shots Surprised

LMAO

see thats one good thing about texas, things like that happen Shocked
however, BB King will be in Seattle shortly joined by Dr John (I wish I were there for that), and Eric Clapton will also be up there a few days before ...

to make it perfection, I would have needed Mark Knopfler... he was the only one I needed Sad

I enjoyed it for more than both of us LMAO
no idea what they'll do, they filmed the ENTIRE concert 11am to 11pm ... so I'm sure there will be a DVD of some sort in the making...

probably limited performances though Sad
if they do the entire concert on DVD I'll buy it Very Happy

i'm afraid that would break an EOS Rebel.

too much zoom not enough width.

i wouldn't be able to put a camera of such stature at that much risk.

maybe a minolta or an olympus

but not a true digital SLR camera...

Surprised
(plus, thats probably not a photo you'd want in very high res with very high quality either LMAO )

That is an impressive lineup.

missing my favorite axe players.

Zakk Wilde and Al Di Meola

but clapton alone would worth the price of admission.

Not crazy about Zakk, he's good, just not my favorite. I have a copy of Al and Vai playing "Race With the Devil on Spanish Highway" that is awesome!!
I used to have a Return to Forever cassette, but it died many years ago!! (still gotta get a cd!) Laughing You can't tell me THAT'S not chock full of talent!!

Also have a copy of Little Wing with Page, Vai and Plant singing and all playing with SRV (the genius) Phenomenal!!
I finally get to see CSN after many years of missing them for one reason or another (Chateau Ste. Michelle in Sept.) Rock on! and that pretty much took my entire allowance for this year! Sad

Later peeps!

Zakk is not everyone's bag, I have a fondness for the big hair guitar guys, i really like George Lynch, Eddie, Wylde, ect. But like most everyone on here, i can appriciate most any good guitarist.

I'm still looking for a copy of the Austin City Limits with Knopfler and Chet Atkins together.

Holy crap!! What greatness was sitting on the stage that night!

I was lucky enough to see Chet on my birthday at the brand spanking new concert hall in SoCal a few years ago, and the man still has it!!

There's also another great album (I've only been able to hear it once) called (I think) Chester and Lester Together Again, featuring Chet Atkins and Mr. Les Paul himself. I've still got to get a copy of that! Preferably on vinyl, but anyway would work!

My favorite guitarist right now though is Petrucci. The man has more talent in just one little finger than some of these other "guitarists" out now have in their whole body!! They're just not enjoyable anymore! Laughing

Ciao for now,
P.
