So we have brakes. Just gotta adapt the rubber lines to the hardlines, finish the line lock install and she's set.

Here is what I started with. Ewwwww

Modified Spindle

Just a picture to remind everyone how much stock exhaust pipes suck!

Brakes and cleaned/painted suspension parts.

I had thought about trying to wire wheel out the inside of the fenders.... Um yeah no. That'd take forever.

Tony helped me find a radiator! '82 COROLLA! YEAH BABY/ It's ugly. I'll test it at work this week. It's the ONLY radiator that fit the hole, and had the lower inlet on the drivers side.

Nothing like a half price rear axle. '92 S-10 so it should have 28spline axles. Broke my 8MM socket trying to get the pin bolt out so I can't check it yet. But it's in REALLY good shape, really clean, and has a pretty decent ratio. Not what I was looking for, but I'll take the chance of bigger axles over the ratio. Got some controls arms, panhard, intake bellows also.

41/12=3.416666666666666666666!

Now it's time to look up the best way of welding the spiders.

Wish I could have scrounged around with you, but too much distance and holiday traffic. Also, my nephew's birthday today was a bit more important Smile

Looks like some nice finds and some nice work on the front suspension.

Although I might be puttin the Chevette on hold in favor of the primary car. I have a lead and tested a theory now I need to analyze the results!

Am I the only one who noticed 4 lug to 5 lug conversion? How did you do that? Do later chevettes come in 5 or did you do something crazy?

No you're not the only one. Also notice the S-10 rear end = 5 bolt pattern, therefor a need to convert the front just for uniformity Smile

But how? He mentioned "modified spindle" so did he put a camaro front spindle shaft on it so he could mount the brakes?

If you look at the spindle he's made bearing spacers and then tacked them to it. Then used camaro rotors I believe.

Yep. Camaro/S-10 Front rotors and calipers. Have to mod the caliper brackets a bit but it's just about done. All chevettes (Sub-Compact) came with 4 lug. Ironically the Camaro/S-10 rotor isn't much bigger, nor is the pad, it's just much thicker for the heat dissipation.

I had to notch the castle nut about an 1/8" to get the cotter pin to clear. 1.5" wheel spacers fit the wheels I have. They should be here tomorrow. Then I'm trying to find a 19" brake line that's an IF fitting and not a bubble. Heard rumor on TGO that the '82 type stuff should still be 3/16 IF.

BTW, axles ARE indeed 28 spline. This rear should work our stellar. I get 54" flange to flange, and 55.5" is the max flange to flange to fit my wheels. We'll see what it looks like, or if I need a 1/2" spacer.

the 82 fbodys still had american sizes on them. i don't know if they are IF or not.
