A co-workers wife took these shots of one of our ferries during the windstorm we had on October 19. This is the Cathlamet, which is 328' long, 78'8" wide and displaces 2477 tons. I ride the ferry every day, and was on my way home during this storm. The boat I rode was significantly larger, but some of the same effects were there. I normally ride the Walla Walla or the Spokane, each of which are 440' long, 87' wide and displace 3246 tons.
On my commute, the van I ride was on the lower deck, in the tunnel almost all the way forward. I stayed in the van to nap and saw some of those waves dousing the cars on the upper wing walls (second deck). It was quite the ride... _________________ 92 Camaro

Whoa! That's awesome! I mean that nothing sank but cool to see the shots of it looking like it's taking off! _________________

| Wow, that's crazy. A couple years back I went to Victoria, BC, on the way there from washington on the ferry, things were real nice and calm and it was pretty pleasant. On the way back into washington though, that's another story. Felt like the ship was doing exactly what was in those pictures, could see straight down at water looking forward into the windows. The idea of ferry rides scare me now lol. |

Agreed, I wish I could take credit for them. I didn't take them, I didn't think my friend's wife would mind if I shared them. _________________ 92 Camaro

I wonder how insurance companies would cover that. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S
