How big do brake lines need to be?

The lines on the chevette look really small. Maybe it's just the coiling on the thirdgen ones that make them look bigger.

It needs a master cylinder since this one is all rusted. Before buying one I need to know if I have to adapt a larger one for the thirdgen size brakes, or if the std one would be fine.

Don't know much about it. All the guys upgraded brakes on thirdgens don't seem to put different lines on all the way that are larger so....
