well, conned my friend Geoff into driving up to whidby island with me to get my "new" hood. before i left i painted my headlight lids to match it. then removed the old flat hood. i drove up to oak harbor without any hood at all, garnering some funny looks on the road and a few questions at a gas station.
anyway, here it is. my "formula" clone is one step closer.
the hood bird has got to go. _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

That's the same exact hood I've got in my other garage. Although I've sanded off of the hood bird and primed some spots. Much better than the flat one, whens it get some paint? _________________

after the last trip to kurfbirds place (a year ago, to get the T5 in the GTA) i avoided the farys this time. we aited for over two hours for a fary last time. never again.
the trip took 12 hours, but i had to wait at bruce/kurfbird's house for about 30 minutes for him to show up, due to a slight miscomunication about when i was going to get there (my fault). i also stopped by puyallup on the way back at scott in wa's house to pick up a strut-tower bar, but due to a family emergency he was not home. that added some time.
the hood is going to stay black for now. i will sand off the hood bird, and rough the rest of the hood probably over the course of the next few weeks/months. and then i may have a shop put a few coates of primer black on it, since i do not have a paint gun and know from experience how bad a large surface looks when rattle canned.
i may just wait on that part and have the whole car painted at once. after seeing the hood, i am wondering how the whole car would look in flat black. certainly would make the paint job cheaper. even Maaco can primer a car. (espeacialy if i bring it to them prepped and stripped) i am considering my options.
i am looking into "2.8 Liter F.I" graphics for the sides of the bulge. i may have to have something made custom, since they never actually put a 2.8 in a formula. |

| Don't they make a matte clearcoat? You could just spray it black and clear it so it's less likely to fade so fast. That might look good. You guys ever see that MB SLR Mclaren in matte black? Beautiful car. |

Mayhaps I have a twin? My V6 car hasn't been driven for over a week now! Creepy.
And yes they make a semi-gloss clear coat. Thats my current goal, reprimer my LT1 car and then semi-gloss over it. Should look good. |

Funny, I'm really hoping to do something with that car real soon.
Speaking of which, did you drive up on Saturday? I saw a firebird cruising down the road with no hood in Mt V while driving my Tahoe. That would be awesome if it was you. We were there around 12'ish. |
