So i'm looking to buy new shocks for the camaro cuz i am selling my old acura and now have a little cash. My shocks right now are totally shot ao anything will be an improvement. I have been browsing summit lately but don't really know what to look for.
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=CEE%2D2600&N=700+4294908216+4294908198+115&autoview=sku
Has anyone looked at the drag shocks they have? they seem like a really cool idea but how streetable are they? I've seen that the KYB's are the cheapest and the most atractive to me right now because of that but are they total junk?
I'm looking for some advice thanks keep in mind i am a poor college student

Jake, is your Acura a 5 speed? My friend Rob is looking for another Integra Chassis to swap his stuff into.
I'll tell him about it if you haven't sold it yet. _________________

so if the KYB GR2's are the same as stock replacement are the "KYB gas-a-just" ones a step up from stock?

That's about right. I paid $130 each for the fronts and $90 each for the rears for the gas adjustable Tokico shocks/struts. Made a huge difference over the worn out things I had You know how that rode. _________________ 92 Camaro

does anyone have ant recommendations for a shocks set up? would it be really bad it i went with the gas-adjust kyb's for the rear and just standard kyb's for the front? or should i be slapped for making such an absurd suggestion and should just buck up the extra $120 for an adjustable front shock?
what side is more important to have a better performing shock? front or rear?
sorry for all the questions, I know nothing and want to learn and spend what little money i have wisely

I've heard if you have the coin get the Koni's.
If not, the standard KYB are much better than factory, and better than worn out stuff reguardless.
I put the standard GR-2 struts on the front of mine and noticed a huge difference over the ones that were there. Especially at higher speeds.
From a handling standpoint... well someday when I have $600 to kill I'll get adjustable Koni's all around. Until then... yeah.... |

Koni's are about the best you can get before you start hitting the $1200 and up mark for shocks... the single adjustable are more than most people ever need, and even the double adjustable has its benefits (obviously) for somebody who is hardcore about it... but the SA's (Yellow) are great to use if you're going to or already have lowered the car vs. anything else on the market in the sub $700 range ... even vs. the Bilstein HD's (which are best for stock ride height I guess)
I'm probably going to regret not saving for the Koni's vs. getting the Bilstein's now on my own car, but push came to shove and because of price and the fact that I really needed them, the Bilsteins won out |
