I actually got a two-day weekend for the first time in about a month. (9-10hr days on swing shift = teh suck), so I got some work done. Clutch, starter, bellhousing all went in easily, except for the starter bolts.
Threw the T56 on the tranny jack, ran it up and into the pressure plate. Went in fine until about the last 1/8-1/4 inch, but now it's bound up.
I can move it around on the jack, and I got a couple bolts partway into the bellhousing, but I didn't want to tighten them down. What is likely to be binding and keeping it from going in that last quarter inch? Pilot bushing? It went in fine for the dry-fit. |

Hook up the hydraulics and have someone step on the clutch while you wiggle the trans. And get that jack out of there, bench press it is the best way. Get it on your chest for support.
I don't know what you look like so I don't recommend it for .... larger guys or stick thin guys.
That will allow the clutch disk to float so you can engage the pilot. |

lol... take your pick. I'm 5'10" 200lbs and my brother is 6'3" 350lbs.
Will try the clutch idea though. Thanks. |

| Got her almost done today. Just need to install the rest of the hydraulics. One final thing though: should I just use MD3 fluid, or synthetic? |

I used the synthetic DOT3 stuff. Just cause the line runs by the headers it has a higher heat resistance. |

| Sorry, should have specified. I meant for the trans, not the clutch. |

From what I saw on ls1tech most people don't like the synthetic stuff in the t56. I'm using valvoline dex3. _________________
