OK, so for a long time we haven't had avatars on the site, because we had a lot of users on dial-up for a while. We talked about it this weekend adn Cows, and it seems that people want them. I have added the avatar option, so go to town.

Before you all go nuts with the avatars. Please rember, this site is family friendly. Please keep your avatars tasteful and something that every member will be comfortable with, and would be comfortable to have their kids see. Myself or any mod/admin WILL remove any avatars that are not apropriate.

Thanks and enjoy.
--John

You do it with more compression, or convert it to .gif. i'll bump the size setting a bit, but 15kb for a 80 pixel jpg, you must be using some crazy quality setting. Wink

if i drop it to 1 (in PS v6.0) it gets all pixelated and is still too big. i use 12 (the max) for everything that file size is not a concern for.

thansk for acomidating my needs John, i'll drop it to 6 or so, it still looks good at six. Smile

Ok, I set it at 10k, is fair and get your image to a descent quality?

FYI, in photoshop, instead of going Save As then selecting .jpg, click on "Save for Web" that should put it as a pretty good compression. That is what I do for all the images I do that get tossed on the web, it seems to work well with size and still retaining quality.

it is 256 color, but it also creates a custom pallet for it, it will use any colors you do, not just web colors, but only 256 of them.
