got some more bolts at ace today, went to mock up the setup and experienced a bit of an interference issue. my caliper relocation bracket rubs my caliper. not by too much, it will still bolt up, but it will effect the calipers ability to be "free floating" like it needs to be. i am going to have to clearance the caliper and bracket.
if you are logged in to TGO you will be able to see this image, if not here is the link as well.

EDIT*well, the other side is fine, i am going to try switching brackets....
EDIT**gah... problem stayed with the same caliper... interesting, that means the bracked was not the issue, it is in the caliper or carrier. weird. _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

Is the hole in the bracket by the piston there, for it to bolt to the spindle?
I would say clearance the bracket, just be carefull around the hole in the bracket. I don't like how close it is I would try to take very little meat out of that section. Or take the bracket and caliper with you to a parts store, and try a diffrent caliper. If it is caliper issue then get a caliper that is correct. If it isn't the caliper, then it is hte carrier. |

| i am gong to try and remove the material i need to remover from the caliper before i try and clearance the bracket. YES that hole is for the spindle, i was thinking the same thing, leave as much material alone as i can. the part that is rubbing is a big casting mark, i am going to take that off before i even think of touching the carrier relocation bracket. |

File it down until it clears. I think it would be fine.
Edit: FILE THE BRACKET!
NOT THE CALIPER... REPEAT DO NOT FILE THE CALIPER! |

Brackets are over built. Besides, edit the bracket and next time you need a new caliper you're good to go.
Probably not too detrimental to either, but I wouldn't go for the caliper. |

i see your point Paul. i am still going to file down the casting mark before i touch the bracket. but before i go digging in to the piston i will do the bracket. both worry me though, these brackets were not "engineered" they were built and test fitted by Ed Miller (NOT an engineer) then made in mass and sold to me. so i don't know how overbuilt it really is.
i am going to see how little material i can get away with removing from BOTH the caliper and bracket. |

Did you use grade 5 bolts or 3? I did not see any lines on the bolt heads. Is that grade 9 or something? I'm just looking out man. Oh ya, grind the bracket. The bracket is way over built. The caliper would probably be fine if you ground it down a tad, but I wouldn't risk it.

Twighliight, did you just say "edit" the bracket? You spend too much time on the computer. Lol! _________________ E30
