Well it's hard to tell in the picture.... but PWTC means two Camaro's in my front yard on jack stands. And at one point a firebird in addition to my own!

Some 5 hours worth of lathe time and about an hour worth of heavy hack saw we have:

Hubs fit VERY nicely with new bearings soaked in Red'N'Tacky. Replaced the end links because one nut was stripped. Found the whole shaft rusted with chunks missing! Painted the sway and wonderbar also.

Mmmmm Sessy

Couldn't have done it without you Mr. One Man Bleeder!

Heh. It's like lowering a car. The goal is to get rid of the gap!

Pedal felt a little spongy going through the bed in process but got better towards the end. I rebled all 4 brakes, rotated the tires, moved the 1/8" spacers to the back, and we'll see how she does tomorrow. Now leaks, no squeeks, all brake! Looks sick with the wide track now! Especially with the spacers and "front" wheels on the back.

I bet this setup would look really retarded if I didn't have "front" wheels on the back. Mike, get to looking for from Fronts, PRONTO!

Thanks to everyone for their support and offering to lend their hands!

And all that time waiting to get the last housing that works and what happens tonight? Bulb shatters. Looks like this one got some moisture in it. I knew those things weren't going to seal. It's the most ghetto design ever. I'm happy with the aesthetics but does anyone know where to get GOOD housings for the H4 Setup? Something... oh I don't know.... professional? Maybe some mild quality instead of KWALITY?!

Dude, thats sick. You mentioned spacer? Where does that go? I've saved a set of old rotors to do exactly that. What caliper/hat did you go with?

I have a 1/8" drum wheel spacer. They were made to keep the wheels from sticking to the drum. When I put the "front" wheels on the back, I used the spacer up front to even them out a hair.

Now it's on the back and the backs are in a LITTLE bit too far, but pretty okay.

I used:
Corvette C4 FRONT HD 13" Calipers/Carriers/Rotors.
1LE Rotors turned down to fit the rotors.
ARP 2.5" 12x1.5MM Studs.

I'm using 4 rear wheels, and the stock rear spacer on the front. Works perfectly.

John and I were actually having this discussion today. What did GM do for 1LE Cars? 4 Rears :O)

Paul that's gorgeous. I love larger brakes.

I've never had luck with those one man bleeder things, I just use a vacuum pump..

I've got moisture in my Schmucks specials too, so even the the beam pattern is really good they leak. I haven't tried yanking them out and letting them air though. I've heard that's all you really have to do to get the moisture out and then just seal them up more.

Do you have to run the 1LE rotor/spindle setup? Could I do the same thing with a non 1LE?

Stock spindle, modified to accept the new bracket and removed old caliper mounts.

If you don't use a 1LE hub with the 13" HD setup, the carrier will not fit between the bracket and the rotor. It's off by .317" using a stock thirdgen disc rotor. The 1LE rotor/hub assembly has the wheel flange moved .317 outward and has thicker material for studs. Once the friction surface is turned down, the carrier fits in there perfectly.

The brackets are 1/2" thick. If you used a stock hub they would have to be .183 or about 3/16" thick to make the carrier clear. That's not strong enough.

HOWEVER< using the standard 12.X" rotor C4 brakes, you can use a stock hub because the rotor itself has a different offset.
