Lol. I'll have the video up soon on my dailymotion site.
Boy was it fun though! This was my first run and I guess it got to my head. the other 2 runs were way better but my "camera guy" failed to get those runs
Unfortunately I was a little under zealous on the wheel and I failed to counter steer enough to pull out. The car when sliding sideways and nosed into a concrete barrier. The damage was minimal on the outside and the nose can be reused no prob. I may need some more parts if I keep doing this though...
kurfbird, calling kurfbird. Any parts you see broken I'll need.....
My plans for the next event are to get the car lighter in the rear and just a littel more power. Maybe 10 more hp and I'll be able to drift-o all over! _________________ E30

Ouch, I didnt see them other pictures the other day. I thought you just scuffed it. So how many 4 letter words got spewed?
All I have is a bumper brace, and that would be expensive to ship to you.
Let me know when the video is posted. |

It happened after the first run. I pulled up to the line again and everyone was cheering. I got out, surveyed the damage, pulled some marker light guts out so it wouldn't litter the track. Got back in a proceeded to ROAST the tires around the track! Lol, I really had a lot of fun. Sure wish the other runs were taped.
Can anyone suggest some good spots to remove weight? I'm going to try to remove any unnecessary bracketry under the chassis and inside. Should help a little right? I'm at 2930lbs but I'd like 2800!
I'm also thinking about relocating my radiator further back. Just to pull everything in closer to the rotational moment. Could I try running a smaller rad? Its only a V6... |

If your trying to move front weight too. It appeared to me that the v6 engine and trans could fairly easly be moved back about .75-1.00 with fabbing up new motor BRACKETS and ellipsing the trans cross member. Of course, this was with an aftermarket tq-arm too.
If your planning on making that a full race car, we can do alot with it. Wish I had the money and space to have kept ol green and do that. |

A lot of Autocross rules say you cannot move the motor. SCCA says no, but local rules change things a little. Drift event guy said I can run without the rear hatch so next time I will.
A kid in a 240sx hit the same wall I did, his car is totalled! Good old domestic steel FTW! |

why would they hold a drifting event close enough to a wall, that you could hit it. I would think at amature events like this, they would do it with lots of room, like an auto-x.
Hope you can get it fixed soon.
(you should just make a fiberglass notch back, or get a lexan hatch for it... )

I've been thinking about "trucking" it. They do it to 240's, so why not a camaro? Besides the fact that it would look funny.
Kinda like this.
El Camaro? Might look better than the fiberglass rear? |

you could lose a lot of weight in the glass... lexan hatch and tops if you have them... you can also remove all the bumper supports front and back and replace them with some aluminum bracing if you're into a little fabrication... you can also, of course, possibly do A-Arms and if you're into a little of a risk, a tubular k-member ... battery relocation if you want some frontend weight removed ...
course, who knows if they're all legal mods, but, never know where to start
hey, pacesetter also makes V6 headers... there's a thought too |

oh my god. the whole point of the 240sx as a drift car is the 50/50 weight distribution that lets them slide so predictably. if you "cut weight" off the rear without doing the same to the front you ruin the balance of the car. |

something tells me that the 240sx truck probably weighs about the same in the back... the rear tubing + possibly having a spare full sized tire or whathaveyou...
plus the body kit alone, good lord ... |

Who said they have to know you moved it
I would try w/o the hatch then next time. If it works, then look for a lexan window, and fiberglass rear. |

Those extended fbody's look horrible.
The last time I weighted my car, it was 3100, 1650 front 1450 rear. I've gutted the hood since then and a couple other things to get me to 2930. I'm probably closer to 50/50 now. But the less traction in the back the better! |

| I think that wagon is up in canada. Looks neat from the pictures I've seen. I bought a scale for weighting car parts so I'll tell you how much it weights. |

Go with a GTA notchback hatch. Looks sweet and is lighter that the factory hatch. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

yeah, you will only have to shell aout about 1K for the aftermarket ones, or find one of the less then 700 originals produced. |
