ok, well just thinking what i could add to the collection, i was thinking and old cop car would be cool. id like to get a 4 door 76 - 79 plymouth fury or dodge monaco if i ever come across a decent one at a good price....making it into a cop car. they were used alot in old tv series, like chips, DOH......
pic of body style w/ light bar:
im guessing the light bar on top might cause some problems, but i dunno...i would do it all white w/ sheriff markings (HAZZARD COUNTY) so it doesnt even match anything in the area.
what yall think

| i couldnt tell you if its legal... fun to drive though? you mean that can actually be fun? and it actually drives? id just have the car with no motor and just the lights on top with a battery and play with em in the driveway.. or else i think that car is gonna end up costing more money than any car youd ever want.. in tickets.. |

I think if you did it all Hazard county style it would be perfectly legal.
Check ebay, police stations sell off their old cop cars all the time. I doubt you could find something that old, but if you are interested in a Caprice Police Interceptor then ebay would be your best bet.
They have all the cop car colors, no light bar and no crests. But I bet you could add those no problems as long as it was inherently fake (Hazzard County), and they did not work (err.. at the very least, you did not use them). _________________

other than the light bar, i think it would be legal, depending on the stickers you put on it, if they say sheriff or Police, then i think you could runinto some trouble. but if it was obviously fake, then it might be ok.
If i remember correctly the only civilian emergency type vehicles that can run red & blue lights are Police/sheriff and to actually turn them on when driving would probably get your butt in jail, as everyone would assume your a cop then.
might it be kewl to have, maybe, is it worth the possible hassle, doubtful, besides you could just pick up one of hte old crown vics that the cities & counties sell off all the time, they probably would still have the spot light. |

You can't do anything that would make a civilian think you are part of law inforcement.
Ever seen Blues Brothers? No markings, no light bar. Just the car. |

then im curious how security companies can mount light bars ?
i agree that markings & such cannot be made to "appear" as a cop or such |

yo-
im gonna probbaly go ask about it. a few people (who actualy have fully converted hazzard cop cars) said that they have a little wrap which goes over the light bars while driving on the road.....of course if you turn em on, and get caught yer screwed. i aint that dumb

yeah, im pretty sure its 'legal' to have a diffrent color light bar on your vehicle, this has been discussed a lot on the knight rider board....which is why some people do KARR w/ a yellow canner caues its 'legal'. i still think that that is a bad idea and you will probably still get pulled over for doing it.
