Well I hate speaking about negative things but this I just have to let you guys know. My friend Kord was recently involved in a very bad car accident today. He is in the CAPITAL Center Automotive Technology class hosted at Aloha High School.

I was on my way to give my girlfriend a ride to work like normal at 3:00 pm and I was headed North on 185th (major street around here for the non locals) and all lanes were closed from baseline to CAPITAL Center ( about a 1/4 mile). I figured they were doing some major road work as I saw several construction workers. Well on my way back at around 3:45 they had opened up the Southbound lanes and and the traffic was just crawling along. Up ahead I noticed a police car and figured that there must have been a major accident if they closed down the street. As I got nearer I noticed what appeared to be a light blue Audi wagon whose entire drivers side had sustained heavy damage like someone had T-boned it. A little further I saw a Dark red car in the middle turn lane. The first though came to my mind was whether or not the driver had survived the crash. As I got closer I recognized the wheels and realized that it was my friends Nissan 240sx. The car was completely Totaled. Didn't appear to be a salvageable part on it. There were police officers nearby so I asked him what had happened and he replied with "The two cars crashed. That's what happens when you speed race another car."

My friend is currently in the hospital right now. I'll definitely update when I gain further knowledge of his well being and what exactly happened.

Hopin' for the best! Things like this are always tragic and stressful, not only for the victims, and their families, but everyone around them as well.

huh, my brother just told me this same story a few minutes ago, his friend Nolan knows kord. (can't remember nolan's last name, but he drives a realy hot STI WRX).

i know the area well, my house is about two blocks from their and i drive that street every day to get to work. it is the LAST place i would ever street race if nothing else due to the high police presence, but there is also alot of foot traffic due to its mixed commercial and apartment land around it. (not nearly as much the case that far south on 185th, that area is a little more sparse) i can understand why the cop (who sees this alot) might be thinking angry thoughts about someone who was racing in that area, but for him to voice that aloud to passersby is a little inconsiderate. while i don't want streetracing in populated areas, i certainly don't feel the drivers deserve to be injured, perhaps i am taking the officers comment the wrong way...

i wish your friend a speedy recovery. my good thoughts go out to him.

Alright, Finally I have an accurate update. My friend is going to be OK He's in the hospital right now but he got away with a broken ankle and a broken arm. He's having surgery tomorrow to get some pins in. Besides that He's fine.

Now for the story. He wasn't racing. Not at all. He was behind a black Audi in the furthest right hand lane going southbound that was going well below the speed limit (30-35ish?) so Kord pulled into the other lane to pass him. He didn't go WOT or anything just enough to get up to the speed limit (45-50). then apparently a Passat Slowly crept out right into Kords lane from a side street attempting to go Northbound. There wasn't enough time for him to do anything but hit the brakes. He locked them up for about 10-15ft until he smashed strait into the rear drivers side of the Passat. This is a fairly accurate story as two other friends of his were following behind him to get to Aloha.

Get this, of all things, the Audi that was holding up traffic didn't even stop to see if anyone was OK. They EMT's had to use the Jaws Of Life to cut off the roof to get him out of the car. This accident happened when he was on his way to class at about 12:xx. They left his car out there for nearly 4 hours with the road only open to one lane. I thought it sounded kind of out of place that he was racing. He's smarter than to do that on 185th in the midst of the day with traffic and pedestrians about. He's more of a drifting guy. He like to take it to Germantown and Skyline. Apparently the police are very determined to pin this on him. This is a pretty big loss to him. His car was worth about $13+K in parts alone. He worked on his car nearly every day and had his old wheels stolen off his car shortly after he bought them. Very unfortunate.

My very good friend David almost always gets a ride to auto with Kord. In fact he was going to get a ride today but he had to talk to a teacher before he left. When he was finally done he had his phone open and ringing but decided that he probably already missed him. Besides he wanted some Jack In The Box before class. Someone sure was looking over these two today. Thank you everybody for the kind words!

so the cop was telling passers buy your friend deserved this for.... NOT racing... nice. well i am glad to hear your friend is ok, the version of the story i heard painted him in a bad light and made it seem as though he was quite a bit more injured then it turned out to be, like "may not make it" injured, i am glad to hear he made it out with only a few broken bones. i mean that sucks, but it is soo much better then what i heard.

it's amazing how this shizzle gets spread around and the story gets blown out of proportion. here is the version i heard from my brother who heard it from his friend who got it from ???

"so this guy in a 240sx with an sr20 swap (kord i guess, but i got it with no name) was racing this audi on 185th. they hit 120 and the guy in the 240 and the guy in the audi lock eyes, by the time the guy in the 240 looks back at the road there is a car in front of him with no time to stop, BAM"

so this story went from a 45MPH honest mistake (and not on kords part from the sound of it) to 120MPH+ street race in a few hops... man, the grape vine eh... Rolling Eyes

well again, good thoughts to your friend, here is to beeping in metal detectors for the next few years. Smile

That sucks about your friend. Glad he seems to be ok for the most part. What sucks worse is the bad rep that he's getting, and that alot of import enthusiasts get. Everyone's quick to blame them and call it street racing without even knowing every side of the story.

Have the police taken a statment from the driver of the Passat that got hit?
