this post is regarding my 82 crossfire TA.........the dang thing wont start
when i turn the key nothing happens. doesnt even click. i tried jumpin the battery tonight too, nothing happened. there is no power to anything, not even the lights or horn work (and i checked the fuse, thats good). what could be the problem?
my guess is that it might be the starter, but what the heck do i know. any ideas?
thanks |

if theres no power anywhere you need to check the battery connections first. Then check the fusible linkes. They're the smaller wires that bolt on to the starter at the same place as the main battery cable.. Gently try to stretch these wires, if any of them stretch like rubber, it will need to be replaced. |

I had that happen to me in my 84 t/a. What you need to do is jack up the car and check the wires to the starter to see if they have melted on your exhaust or wires been rubbing in metal. and you may check the fusable link attacted to the starter. That is common when someone changes out the starter and remove the metal heat shield conduit that protects the wires and forget to put it back on. |

Check and see if your brake lights work. If they do its the fuse link on the starter.
(At least thats what happened on the wifes 85, earlier years might be different) |

Did someone take out all your fuses?
Maybe your ignition switch is bad? |

Get a set of jumper cables and put the one black end on the negative terminal of the battery and the other black end on the engine. Like on the alternator bracket or something where it won't get tangled if the car starts. Sounds alot like a ground problem to me. |

Just had the same problem on my jimmy today. Turned out to be the ground cable at the battery. You couldn't wiggle it, but it wasn't in far enough to engage right. Tightened it down and away I went. |
