OK so i have never removed a steering wheel before. This is one of the very few few things I have never done on a car. Was wondering if anyone had any advice. I know i need a puller to pull it off but how do you put it back on? I plan on taking my stock grandma wheel out and am swapping the one out of my "85 IROC. Any info will help, thanks.

You might need a wheel lock depressing tool.

It's really easy, once you get it off, you'll just slide the new one on and tighten the nut down.

If you're just swapping steering wheels I dont think you'll need the lock plate tool (unless 3rd gens are different from all the cars I've been yankin' wheels out of at work?)

A steering wheel puller will be a must. Just take the wheel cover off, undo the big nut in the middle, pull off the steering wheel w/ tool and voila. To "press" the wheel back on all you have to do is tighten the nut and it'll push it on for yah.

also just noticed you have a '92. Dont 92's have airbags in the steering wheel? If so, you'll want to take out the airbag fuse before doing any of this.

ya just dont pull the fuse unhook the battery and wait atleast 10 to 15mins just incase there is any power remaining only takes a static shock to blow a air bag. also i havent used a steering wheel puller in years no real need for them, undo the bolt and a couple good wacks and the wheel comes off. do it all the time at work =]

As in storing the airbag? Hell, I've tossed mine around my room/garage/house for the last two years and it's never done anything. I'd say toss it where you want to.
