saturday evening/night, some friends of mine and i decided to go 4wheelin out behind my shop in albany,theres a pretty good mudhole back by the pond

anyways,my buddy's friend tyler took his BONESTOCK early 90s jeep cherokee through some of the shallower stuff and made it through,until he decided to try the deep part,he ended up sinking it BAD,entire interior was full of mud/water,it was a good 3/4 feet of muck,and he buried it. we got him out with my dodge no probs.

everyone started harassing me to go through it,so i figured wtf,might as well,flipped her in 4wd low range,spooled the old 5.9 magnum up too the powerband and let it rip all's good,get about half way through it thinking ive got enough momentum to get through,got off into the DEEP shizzle and when i say deep,i mean deep,it was up too the bottom of the window on my doors,and i have a fullsize 98 dodge on 33s i about crapped my pants.

at this point i threw it in reverse and tried to possibly back out,i could move maybe a foot or so,so i tried the whole "rock it" aproach,threw it forward to reverse and back about 8 times as fast as i could without losing forward momentum,made some progress,but not enough to get my ass outta this stuff,so i almost gave up,got the truck up as high as i could so as little water as possible came in the cab,andthrew it in park,was gonna climb out the extra cab slider window in the back


realized how F'D i was with my truck sitting in this crap,and decided to try again to get out,i threw it in 1st and hammered it,slammed second and then 3rd and it started to pull up and outta the rut i was stuck in,got it up over that rut,and into the next one which was easy to get out of...whew ITS OUT! DIDNT GET STUCK! truck was full of mud,but big deal,it washed out. im still in shock i got out....

anyways,on to the REAL bad part,my buddy callen took his 66 scout through the same hole,got into some of the deep stuff,but nowhere near what i was through,and got buried,so i backed up to him to yank it out.all we had was a chain as anyone knows who wheels,chains SUCK!

i did a few consecutive yanks to get him outta the ruts,and as soon as i grabbed traction i kicked in second and hammered down on it,front end bounced and thats ALL SHE WROTE.

i blew the whole front end apart in the dodge,sheared the ring gear,its totally smooth,with a few bumpy spots,the pinion is sheared,theres NOTHING left of it,the cross pin for the spider gears is in 3 peices,the spider on the drivers axle is stripped {axles fine though} the vertical spiders are both in peices
