| Well after stopping and getting some stuff at Chevron i went to open my drivers side door and nothing. unlocked it locked it and the it still did nothing, good thing my key didnt ulock the rear hatch or the passanger side..i ended up having the yank up on the rear hatch and pull the motor assembly off of the tracks to get into my car. Luckily the plastic cover thing was already broken and needed replaced. But now i kinda need some help, i know im gonna have to take the door apart, but what coulda broken that would make the door handle not engage? |

If you look under the outside door handle there's a small steel rod that sits behind it, on older handles this tends to break giving little or no tension on the door handle outside, which may be the problem. Usually your door will still open you just have to pull the handle up further.
One of the rods inside that connects to the door handle might have broken its plastic clip and slid out (82-86ish have steel clip retainers)
The latching mechanisim might also be stuck or broken.
I'm sure once you get the door pannel off, it will become evident pretty quickly what the problem is. _________________
