Yeay! I weighed my camaro today and its official! 2930lbs for a V6 camaro! I even have a certificate because I paid to do it at a certified truck scale. Hehe.
Whats done:
No rear seats
4th gen cloth fronts
gutted hood, no hinges
no rear crash bumper
no AC
1/4 tank
no sound deadening under carpet
Other than those deletes, its a stock (weight wise) 1989 V6 with 700R4 Camaro RS.
Next Plan:
Substitute front crash with bars
No rear hatch
700r4 to T5
Cut out unneeded brackets and caulking _________________ E30

Thats awesome, but how are you gonna run with no rear hatch? Lexan? Notchback perhaps? _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

A lexan rear hatch would be awsome... that would take a lot of weight off (although maybe not a good thing to take off since it is the rear that needs more weight). I would do the lexan side windows but then you can move the windows up or down for summer time that would suck! _________________

Hmm this is lookin better and better since my drivers side window motor has been giving me fits as of late...... maybe it's time to perform some mayhem on it! lol I could gut the whole door and just have the windows clip on and off...... _________________

I'm just going to stretch vinyl over the hole that the glass sits in. Maybe stitch in a clear vinyl window like a vert. So no glass, just black vinyl. It might look funny, but oh well. Its a purpose built car.
And removing rear weight isn't a bad thing, as long as you take it off the front too! I'll try to get weight bias someday soon. Sure wish I could justify doing a sheetmetal dash.....
How much weight is in the seam sealer stuff thats gobbed around everywhere? My hatch area is slathered in the stuff. _________________ E30

Here you go, this ist the stuff you want. SpeedGlass. Lexan itself is actualy rather soft, and scratches very easy. Its not so bad if you are running winston cup, and can put tear-offs over it, and buy new ones all the time.
For most of us, we want something that is a little more durable.

Call them, and ask about "Blems" You can save a ton of money that way, most of the blems are so small, that you will never notice, but it made it so it didn't pass QA.
other than that, they have no tinting what so ever, and you will probably need fabricate some small ammounts of bracing. (legaly for most racing, if you do the windshield I believe bracing it is required). Also remeber, this stuff isn't as easy to use as glass, you need to be carefull cleaning it, chances are you won't be able ot use your windshield wipers. |

Right now im workin on gutting the dash the rest of the way. Removing the ducting, heater core, and other things (ecm lol). I really would like to at least get the rear hatch with speediglass or lexan whatever will work best. I saw somewhere where they made roll up windows for our cars made out lexan but i forget where I saw them.
Thats a BAD lookin camaro on that website!
I foud the speedi glass rear hatch now I just need to call them and ask them how much..... I figured maybe just the lcoal glass installer could install it. _________________
