Just thought I would throw up some pics of the oiling mods that I have done to my 383. Maybe it will help some others that are thinking of building a 383. Since these motors are prone to spinning the front main bearing, this is a preventitive to that.
First pic is of the main bearing feed lines.
This pic is of the cam oiling system. If you look closely you can see the little orifices that will drip oil onto the camshaft.
This photo is after smoothing all of the passages for better oil control.
These mods were done because I toasted a 355 because of a faulty oil pump so I was very upset and never wanted the engine to have any oiling problems again. Not to mention the prone problems (main bearings) that a 383 can sometimes have. _________________

Wow, nice mod! I wanted to do something like that with my V6 after I noticed my 1980 Mazda B2000 had a line dedicated to squirting oil on the cam lobes. How are those orifices put in? Is there a oil line that runs the length of the cam under the galley? _________________ E30

Some of the grinding I did myself and others is shop work. The orifices are fed from the main cam feed tube that is inside the block the machiest just put in orifices instead of relying on the splashing of the engine. This way it will drip oil on the cam from the pressure system. I am trying to find pics of the rest of the things he did as well. He enlarged the cam bearing grooves so it would flow more and smoothed the main bearing orifices as well and enlarged them making it more of a straight shot the main bearing. _________________
